A theory about the DOS extended edition Can't Post

I suddenly thought up a theory. We have got confirmation that we will have 25 minutes of additional footage, but given that the scenes with Thrain will replace some of the scenes already in the movie we're actually getting a few more new moments.

And it seems like we're getting a new introduction to Beorn, which could also add up to two minutes of new footage replacing the introduction we got in the movie to some extent.

What do you guys think? We have gotten slightly replaced footage before in the rings trilogy, but not to this extent.

I am just hoping that we get more Mirkwood [In reply to] Can't Post

That was severely lacking...

I think.... [In reply to] Can't Post

The Extended Edition of Fellowship saw certain parts completely gone, and replaced with something else. Most notably, the scene after Haldir says "The dwarf breathes so loud, we could have shot him in the dark".

I think something like this is going to happen with Desolation of Smaug. The Dol Guldur sequences are likely to end up very different indeed, and some of the shots we see in the theatrical edition, may be deleted and replaced.

Regardless, I just want to see it!

That's a very good point [In reply to] Can't Post

I think 25 minutes extra is based off the runtime. Therefore, if some scenes are replaced in parts we will be getting more than 25 minutes of unseen content in the film!

Agree - tho we know we will get some! [In reply to] Can't Post

LOL hoping to see the dwarves' faces when they realize they have to carry Bombur. And a bit more sword-against-spider work. And Thorin firing the arrow....
