E.g. anyone w. patience and good blending skills - BUT then what? Not saying I am that great or anything, but then you end up with a great big long image, which you can put on the web I guess, but personally I don't do all that online image hosting stuff. But I am certain someone on Thorin FB, Deviant Art, etc. won't be able to resist, so just wait a bit!Smile

Thanks very much for posting this [In reply to] Can't Post

Some gorgeous images there, e.g.

• Thorin looks absolutely magnificent, both slumped on the throne and in battle mode (the armour is fantastic).

• The Smaug scene is superb.

• The image of Gandalf with Galadriel is original and beautifully done, and I love seeing Elrond in the background.

No Beorn (or I couldn't see him)?

Superb - with one exception. [In reply to] Can't Post

Galadriel on the ground, reaching desperately for Gandalf?

No. No. No.

This feels like a diminishment of the great Lady for the purpose of ramping up the atmosphere of threat and danger. I'm starting to understand why some LOTR fans couldn't get past what they saw as the lessening of Gandalf, especially in ROTK.

Other than that, I think the scroll rocks. Smile

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Agree with Riven Delve - zoomed in, looks like regret but also anger [In reply to] Can't Post

Best I can get forcing the resolution up (which is gonna blur pixels), but IMO this looks to me more like brooding and anger - similar to when Thorin was "not himself" early in DOS? *Sigh* but we know from the trailer it's nothing good Frown

ON THE OTHER HAND, doing the happy danceCool because I finally can see the banner, and my beloved Heirs of Durin just look, just look - think it was Keen Observer who said it'd be GLORIOUS. Just love, love, the costumes, the chain mail, the leather, the sumptuousness, and this looks like everything and more than the Battle of AzanulbizarHeartHeartHeart.

IMO the workshop and costume designers have outdone themselves. Nice to see Fili come to the fore (in the banner at least - so handsome! and Kili looks every inch the warrior). And Thorin - what can I say? He's magnificent, can't stop thinking a god-warrior from Nordic or Celtic mythology or legend. I've always thought that, but THIS is a KINGTongueHeartHeartHeartTongue.

How about.... [In reply to] Can't Post

Since I'm still so proudCool I read that real soldiers often dumped their plate armor re the weight and heat during a campaign - that at some point the dwarves strip off the plate armor, as it is no further use really, as the battle gets more and more desperate. That way if you are going to go down anywayFrown, you take more with you re being able to fight more freely.Unsure "Will you follow me, one last time..."

I dunno [In reply to] Can't Post

When I look at the way he's slumped on the throne, with his sword held loosely and about to slip out of his hand, it looks more like despair to me. Or like he can't believe what's happened. I guess it could be brooding and anger. *sigh*

Good eyes - maybe it is remorse or despair [In reply to] Can't Post

Another thought - perhaps it's the time when Thorin truly understands the scale of the army against him? But I know - this could end differently. *Sigh*

The Heirs of Durin need helmets. [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, the armor looks great, from the neck down.

My favorite comment from FB: "if I was going to drive the Necromancer out of Dol Guldur, I think I would have found something more practical to wear than the fluffy white gown I wore to the Council. And I'd have left my little tiara at home."

For me it still looks as if Galadriel is comforting Gandalf, you can see he is unjured, she not, maybe she has to hide and is not able to go to him openly.

Cool! [In reply to] Can't Post

Lots of detail here to take in.

I noticed that Gandalf's left arm--presumably in which his staff is placed--is cut off here. I guess they're not going to feed that aspect of the rumor mill.
