Middle-earth Conspiracy Theories Can't Post

What was the real reason that Gandalf lost the vote to head the White Council?

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Sarumandering, brilliant! [In reply to] Can't Post

But nonetheless, I offer a feebler explanation:

Celeborn, after reading Oakentoons 15 and 45, changed his vote--and Gandalf lost by one.

People in positions of power don't listen to the true fans, and then they are surprised that their decisions turn awry. Crazy

Because Gandalf didn't vote for himself, he actually knew it would be too much work. And he needed more vacation time. So when he lost he pretended to be sad but he actually booked himself a trip and went to the beach.

"Now come the days of the sand, may they be bliss."
