"There was also a strange Elf clad in green and brown, Legolas, a messenger from his father, Thranduil, the King of the Elves of Northern Mirkwood" Good enough reason to jump in, I should think or lurk
I'm a lurker. Fan of both books and movies; it seems I have severely misnamed myself... for the moment. Appreciating Thranduil, thread by thread: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI (Tis true! More appreciation threads for Thranduil exist than ME movies) Thrall Wars!: What business do Elves, Dwarves or Men(?) have with drooling thralls, yea, with smartphones in tow, unto the slopes of Erebor? ... oh, yes, the Hobbit's lingering in some shadows, ever ready to swoop to the hairy rescue. Take cover if you dare!. (A tag-team fanfic with Avandel and Kerewyn) Teh partsies: Prologue (aka the 'tater-mash of whatever came before), two, three, three-appendix: An Unexpected Flashback, four, five (new, posted 20 August) "BoFA"= The Battle || "BotFA"/"tBotFA" = The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ======= Middle-earth dispatches out of the lurkmirk

this And the Dalescape too
Quote
Kinda pretty and creepy/odd at the same time. It sort of fits in with the concept that Thranduil is almost a part of the forest, but thinking about spiderwebs in someone's hair makes me all...um...twitchy/shivery. And *cough* what is up with him having scrawny little stick legs? Odd. Eh, looks to me those scrawny pins are supposed to be spider legs
AAAAAAWWWWWW! I love how excited he was about little Thorin! He certainly was very taken with baby Thorin. Think he mentioned it too on one of those interview vids in the SDCC subthread 1 or 2 threads back. Would have been cool if there was a baby Thranduil too.

Not quite so leafy up close, but I still think it's cool the design gives that sense of a Mallorn leaf motif from afar, or am I just kidding myself?

See this thread for the discussion And yeah, I think the Elves so heroically saving the ungrateful Dwarves from dinner with the Spiders was cool (but please doesn't mean I need this overlong scene to go even longer, give me white stag please), and this is badass

I'm not sure I understand what the Woodland Weekend is all about. But seeing al the wonderful piccies, I would say keep em coming! Especially this one, tjeeeeez
Karen Gillan interview: " On the scariest villain in the film: “It has to be Lee Pace, who plays Ronan the Accuser. He’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen! Have you seen him? Ohhhh! LP as Ronan is scary, what a wonderul character he is. I do hope we'll get to see more of him in the second instalment. I know he's actually not suppose to be there, but seeing this is a Marvel movie and everyone who gets whacked off tends to make a comeback in the sequel, makes a girl slightly more hopeful of a return from our favorite Galaxy villain.

I think you might be right, though it's hard to tell with the low res picture. But to me it also seems as if his hair is pulled back real tight, getting held back with clips and a presume a lot of hairgel/spray. At least the sides don't appear to be blond, so that tends to make me believe the front isn't blond either. I remember OB having his hairline shaved back for the wig. Thank God they didn't need to do this with LP's (would be a shame for the hair really). Oh btw I just found this other gif where you can see the hair before the wig gets put on.

Oh and a very cool page where you can follow the makeup that's being done on LP to transform him into Ronan http://finance.yahoo.com/...akeup-145200921.html What? Everybody should know how to fry rice! This seems like a decent guide on the barest basic fried rice. Variants if you feel adventurous. Good tips for gettin' it right. Now go forth and fry. Thanks for the links *saves them* And no I don't feel adventurous just yet. First I hope to get the simplest recipes just right (might take a while)

I'm not sure I understand what the Woodland Weekend is all about. But seeing al the wonderful piccies, I would say keep em coming! Well, I try to. Not that I see much response usually, aside from Kerewyn and Eruvandi usually. But there does seem to be views for them. So I guess there are lurkers just happy to take. So thanks for replying at all. Really appreciate it. What's a Woodland Weekend? Well, *points to lexicon in OP* It's really just something I started naming the posts I made with tons of URL for Pretty! of Thranduil, and LP, and others, like Legolas, and even that disagreeable (among other things) Dwarf. Shocking I know. But well, what can I say: there's a diverse bunch with diverse pervs here. And these are full of URLs instead of pretty because it gets to be a REAL pain to follow TORn rules when putting images up. So... I guess you do need to revisit the old threads. I think they start from TAIII. And I must agree with this a full 100%.
I hope we do see Ronan again, just cos What I'd really like is to see a Ronan Loki moment!

The first one's at SDCC. I think I have a few more to add too, going to make another WW post That article is cool isn't it? Since you've put it up (thanks very much!), I'll leave it out of the next WW post heheh... have fun with rice frying. Remember, day old rice, and HEAT are the key. Having eggs help too.

Wauw, nicely done by the artist. It is indeed very thorny and Thranduil looks a bit tired/pained. Maybe it's because he has to put up with the uncomfortable throne and headpiece? Yes yes and I love gif's, in case you didn't know this just yet. Hardly possible, but Elvenking looks even better in moving images. Love Legolas' look in this pic He doesn't look all too happy about the filthy Orcs, but he does so beautifully. Just look at his shiny hair (no doubt inherited from his father) and flawless skin *thud* Just stated I love gif's, and this one made me laugh for quite some time Sigh, he just looks so smashing Did you notice how tall LP looks compared to the director? Lots and lots of great and lovely piccies Merci beaucoup

How prophetic his words turn out to be. Love the art btw Oh how fantastically dorky he looks, so cute!!! And I'm not even going to talk about those arms, it should be illegal for him to wear those tshirts. Ah the famous haircut I heard so much about. You know what, I like it but I'm not crazy about it. I just am obsessed with boys hair, and the more the better This gave me another very good laugh. And it's all true! We are some sick little pervs, but there is just too much beauty to behold so can't. stop. lol. And you know what. Since you've put so much effort in those WW, here's a little pic to show you how we feel about that:

You'll have fun in school which is more than I can say for work And yes, I think the discussion is going to be very exciting and interesting. I missed the one on CoH as I hadn't read it yet (still on my to-read list). I just hope I can keep canon straight since sometimes I do mix book with movie oooh... means I just may have a chance of catching with you eh? Well, let's see how it goes. If you get there first, at least I'll know where to find a place to kick my heels back when I do get there myself
(A writing triangle with Avandel and Kerewyn) Teh partsies: Prologue (aka the 'tater-mash of whatever came before), two, three, three-appendix: An Unexpected Flashback, four, five (new, posted 20 August) "BoFA"= The Battle || "BotFA"/"tBotFA" = The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ======= Middle-earth dispatches out of the lurkmirk

Thanks, VValar.
Sigh, he just looks so smashing Did you notice how tall LP looks compared to the director? Yes! And there's that PD BTS pic and the SDCC pic of him besides Dwalin... I think it's safe to say LP is VERY TALL.

LOVELY portrait of Leggy for you, in case you've not seen this before (same artist who did those illegal manframe upgrades for the disagreeable dwarves ) And I think he rocks the mohawk if there was a modern AU Wallpaper? For now, under the starlit night, and betwixt the darkness of blighted boles, mayhap one needs only a prayer and a thought to look and see...

How prophetic his words turn out to be. Love the art btw Yes. Love her art
Oh how fantastically dorky he looks, so cute!!! And I'm not even going to talk about those arms, it should be illegal for him to wear those tshirts. heh... I'll just say I love PD
Ah the famous haircut I heard so much about. You know what, I like it but I'm not crazy about it. I just am obsessed with boys hair, and the more the better Yeah, though this means he's gonna look great in his new role as a soldier A few more clickies for your consideration (mag scans)
