How else would he have survived the War of the Ring without even a scratch on him?
Thranduil must have put his precious Legolas on bootcamp when he saw his son being hurt by getting punched in the nose by a nast Orc. A good 60 years later and he too, just like his father, is practically invincible.

That they can release a pic that's that big, with that kind of quality, and even if you zoom in close, you can't see makeup or the seam where the wig meets LP's real skin or anything. It just looks like a super-close-up, real-life Elven King!

I think you may just be seeing LP's scalp. They've combed his hair back really tight, slicked it down with hair gel/spray and have a bunch of clips and ties pulling on it to keep it down so the wig can lie flat. With all that tension on his hair, it looks to me like it's just causing the skin near his hairline to go white like when you press on your fingernail and it goes pale from the blood being pushed out of it. *shrug*

Kinda pretty and creepy/odd at the same time. It sort of fits in with the concept that Thranduil is almost a part of the forest, but thinking about spiderwebs in someone's hair makes me all...um...twitchy/shivery. And *cough* what is up with him having scrawny little stick legs? Odd.

Hmm... you might be right. But above his ear, that part of his hairline which has the widest bit of white, where if you draw a line to the right, you sorta meet the tip of his brow, that seems to be lightened hair, not just scalp.
