You will find... [In reply to] Can't Post

the average age range (not average age) of people who visit the Pollantir board (not many people who visit the forum visit this board) and who choose to vote (not everyone who checks out this thread will vote).

Just the old math geek in me reiterating an old discussion. :-)

You won't find the average age of the entire forum but it's a fun exercise to visit once in awhile.

I voted and I'm not all that shy about declaring my age here and there... but I'll pass on stating it here. :-)

old. Older than dirt.

30-odd years younger than my still-living parents [In reply to] Can't Post

so I refuse to consider myself "old" at 62. My father still plays tennis three days a week with a bunch of other 90-somethings. (Also: still not grey!)

It seems the board has skewed back to an older range. In the earliest days the average age was mid-30s. After "Fellowship" we got inundated with a bunch of "Legi-lovers" who were not only much younger, but drove many of the "older" folks off the board. (And the males.) But we seem to have reverted to form.

but a part of me thinks... [In reply to] Can't Post

that many of our members who focus on the Hobbit movie board don't venture off that board at all and we won't get any data on them with a Pollantir poll.

I think our members who wander around all boards but the Hobbit (and stray onto Pollantir) are older than those members who stay put on Hobbit and don't wander onto other boards. But that's a vague sense and not worth much without more data.

We have a demographic that is active on the Hobbit board and other boards. But I'm not sure how those numbers compare with Hobbit board members that never leave the Hobbit board.

I just turned 42 last month... [In reply to] Can't Post

although I probably don't look it, but my aches and pains will tell you otherwise. I didn't start feeling more pain until I turned 40, and even my optomotrist warned me that some of my future prescriptions may have to include one for reading (but not just yet). My current eyeglass prescription is just for single vision, and apparently I have lazy eye (but she says this is getting better), so I can rule out laser eye surgery (not that I would opt to do that). It's hard to believe that I've actually been around that long, but I can still remember the Where's the beef? commercials from Wendy's, so perhaps that is right.Smile

I answered 'under 10', thinking the question was 'What age do you act?', rather than '40-50', which is my actual age range. Laugh
