What if? (Regarding Gandalf and Radagast)SPOILERS

Seeing the image of a badly wounded Gandalf in Dol Guldur, and after that we see him in Dale apparently quickly fully recovered What if Radagast gaves his energy to Gandalf in order to save his life and then the brownie dies? Thar aould be a result that in the end of the movie and in the lord of the rings trilogies somehow we have a bit (or a lot) of Radagast essence in Gandalf, so we would have two wizards in one, making a slightly more powerfull wizard as a result Just random thougths in the middle of August boredom

Radagast is one of Tolkein's charactes who WASN'T killed anywhere in any of the books, so PJ killing him would be kind of like blasphemy. Also, name1 film where the comedic relief character dies? That's what I thought...you can't.

No idea whether Radagast will die in the film or not but I don't think the idea of super-Gandalf - Gandalfagast - really works. Or to put it more simply, I don't like the idea of Gandalfagast. It diminishes Gandalf and his unique mission to fuse him with someone else. 'Sides which, I think it's Galadriel who is going to bring Gandalf round. We don't actually know that he's badly wounded, just that in the trailer shot he appears to be unconscious.

And I have problems with the continuity of wounds in this trilogy when Thorin is going to Beorn´s he has barely any scar of the wounds of his fight with Azog

Why does everyone seem so sure that Radagast is going to die?

Seriously, there isn't anything that would point to that.

I think that the theory is based on the facts that Gandalf ends up with Radagast's staff and that Radagast doesn't appear in the FotR movie. IMO, he could die in TBotFA or he might just disappear into the forest or he could just return to Rhosobel or he might go to Valinor or something else will happen. Whatever.

He could disappear (as he does in the books) or sail off to Valinor (with Tauriel?)

As well as the staff, it's just a sense of the narrative flow of the thing. It's rather like Haldir at Helm's Deep - there weren't any particular plot clues but I think the narrative sense that someone should die there gave a stronger basis for thinking he might not make it.

While I agree with most of the above, that Radagast will not die, I do wonder if there might be a passing of power to aid Gandalf, and reduce Radagast's influence for a time, and he would go back to Rhosgobel to restore himself, much in the way Sauron did at Dol Guldur. Or, he'll just fade away and not be mentioned again, which would make me sad.

"...and broke the mountain-side where he smote it in his ruin. Then darkness took me; and I strayed out of thought and time, and I wandered far on roads that I will not tell. Naked I was sent back — for a brief time, until my task is done. And naked I lay upon the mountain-top. "Radagast? Oh yes. That's what they used to call me. Radagast the Brown. That was my name. "I am Radagast the Beige." (This could work!!!)
