ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

A bit silly... but since it is connected to donations for ALS research and treatment, I guess it is fun ;) Several LotR/Hobbit connected participants. Sean Astin and Ed Sheeran already did videos, Benedict Cumberbatch and Luke Evans have been nominated (by Tom Hiddleston). Look here.

I've seen people criticize it as trivial or silly, but it's working. And I confess, I've watched a lot of the videos. Dave Bautista rules, so far.

... "trivial" was my first reaction. But it turned out to work very well... with people from all corners participating. There have been much worse social media phenomena for sure :) I know some people argue that it is "wasting water". But I find that to be a rather bizarr argument given the amount of water actually used (and comapred to what we waste water for elsewhere).

... to us Thranduil's Thralls over on the thread! We noted the Benedict & Luke summons from Tom Hiddleston a few days ago and fingers were crossed that it would reach Lee Pace before too long. Also, isn't BC just awesome, how he took his multiple times? What a star.

For denwyn Since I got these in the Thranduil Appreciation thread too: Got to say, Gandy's prima donna is showing and can't wait for Andy Serkis': reckon he'd have to have 3 buckets: Andy, Smeagol, Gollum!
I'm a lurker. Fan of both books and movies; it seems I have severely misnamed myself... for the moment. Appreciating Thranduil, thread by thread: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X (Tis true! More appreciation threads for Thranduil exist than ME movies) Thrall Wars!: What business do Elves, Dwarves or Men(?) have with drooling thralls, yea, with smartphones in tow, unto the slopes of Erebor? ... oh, yes, the Hobbit's lingering in some shadows, ever ready to swoop to the hairy rescue. Take cover if you dare!. (A tag-team fanfic with Avandel and Kerewyn) Teh partsies: Prologue (aka the 'tater-mash of whatever came before), two, three, three-appendix: An Unexpected Flashback, four, five (new, posted 20 August) "BoFA"= The Battle || "BotFA"/"tBotFA" = The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ======= Middle-earth dispatches out of the lurkmirk

A great compilation, thanks! Now waiting for Andy's...do we know if anyone else has done it, yet? Hopefully Martin Freeman will not be nominated, he's recently gotten over being ill and I doubt it would be good for his health. (I should think the Dwarves would find it not too dissimilar to what they went through filming the barrels-in-the-river scene!)

(I should think the Dwarves would find it not too dissimilar to what they went through filming the barrels-in-the-river scene!) tis a walk in the park... unless they do it in gale-force conditions?
