Next book discussion: The Fellowship of the Ring, coming soon Can't Post

Greetings Fellowship of the Room!

Our next foray into The Lord of the Rings will likely begin in September, with The Fellowship of the Ring...perhaps right around a certain pair of Happy Birthdays? So have a re-read perhaps, or find it's magic for the first time and join us!

Watch the RR threads towards the end of the month of August if you are interested in signing up to lead a chapter. Both veteran and newby (and anyone in between) chapter leaders are welcomed; we would live to hear your thoughts on presenting the chapters as we move through the work.

Cheers all! Happy reading!
Cool

Yay! [In reply to] Can't Post

I was wondering when this was going to start up. It's been 10 years since I last read it (which was only the second time), so this will give me the prompt I need to read it again. Looking forward to the discussions.

“Tollers,” Lewis said to Tolkien, “there is too little of what we really like in stories. I am afraid we shall have to try and write some ourselves.”

Nice! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've actually been listening to the FotR audio recording lately, so I'll be ready to go.

*Gulp* [In reply to] Can't Post

I might offer to lead one of the chapters - it will be my first RR led discussion.

You've got one guess as to which one I might choose. Wink

Thanks for organising Brethil.

Ah, well... I guess I'll just have to contrail my excitement until then... [In reply to] Can't Post

I have to admit I am totally cumulus here... I hope the suspense doesn't cause a huge fractus, debating the possibilities. Crazy

It's not about the giant amphibian attack, right? [In reply to] Can't Post

"Frog on the Barrow-downs"? It's so scary how he gets the hobbits stuck on his tongue and retreats with them to his deadly lily pad--so scary that I haven't been able to re-read it for years. If Bombadil hadn't sung "Don't eat the hobbits, ribbit dol, ribbit all," all would have been lost. (I hope I remember it right.)

Woo! [In reply to] Can't Post

I suppose I get 1/4 credit for my attempt to lead a chapter, if the credits transfer here. Tongue

Hmm...I'll be around here and there just as ever; looks like I'll be making time to join in--and actually lead the discussion this time! (Thanks again for that, Brethil. Nice seeing you around--seems like it's been awhile!)

Whoot! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's been over ten years since I read it with folks here. It'll be interesting to see the new possibilities for this wonderful book this go-around.
