This Old Guard is excited [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't quite put into words how excited I was by the trailer and the minute I heard Pippin singing how it took the emotional level up. I'm just glad the room was dark in Hall H.

Anyone notice [In reply to] Can't Post

Did anyone notice that Thranduil's soldiers' armor appears to be made out of wood? I looked at one of the official stills - the one with Brad and the soldiers - and you can see wood grain in the helmet.
I thought that was pretty cool Smile

A small thing I think people are over looking... [In reply to] Can't Post

How GREAT does Bolg look in the trailer?! The CGI in that shot is fantastic. It's comparable to the difference of Azog from AUJ to DoS.

I think too that Brad might catch on.

Battle rams [In reply to] Can't Post

Initially I was disappointed in seeing them, only because I really wanted to see some Boars (which we may yet, Mr. Frodo!) and because I thought that the whole boar riding thing was actually taken from norse mythology yet I heard nothing of this with rams.

First, off the rams are still a cool looking idea so that's great. Secondly, I did a quick search and apparently they were ridden by characters such as Thor. And what's more, they apparently pulled a chariot on which he rode which shows that the ice chariot isn't far from norse type mythology.

an excerpt from the wiki on Thor:

Quote
Thor has two servants, Þjálfi and Röskva, rides in a cart or chariot pulled by two goats

All the unusual animals used for travelling (including Radagast's rabbits) - [In reply to] Can't Post

 - just add to to the fairytale-like effect of the Hobbit movies for me.

I also like the way Thranduil finally decides to get 'involved'.

The third movie will show once and for all why the events of the Hobbit were critical for the future of Middle-Earth.

I wonder- book spoilers [In reply to] Can't Post

if that's not his call to arms in Erebor, as the trailer makes it appear to be, but rather maybe he's asking Bilbo to follow him to his final resting place (as in he knows he's dying) after he apologizes?

He sounds so humble, and rather weak while saying that, don't you think? As though it's physically hard for him to get those words out.

If it turns out that way, and he is in fact asking Bilbo to follow him on his "last journey", man oh man will I cry buckets! Knowing the acting capacity of those two actors, it would be.....just WOW....something that cannot be put into words. FrownFrownFrown

It would be a beautiful end to the beautiful tragedy that is the Quest for Erebor, I think, and a fitting end to Thorin Oakenshield's life.

Geeky Observation Number 2 from Bomby... [In reply to] Can't Post

Right After "Sauron's EYE "
Explodes....FREEZE FRAME!
@ 1:24 in...

Straight down shot of 4 Dwarves
running from Snow over a Bridge
into Erebor?

THIS HAS to be
Bofur, Oin, Fili, & Kili
FINALLY joining the COMPANY
after their escape from LAKETOWN!

HOW they get
THERE.. is a Mystery
though...

DID they have to Hide from the WRATH of
the Surviors, Blaming THEM on the Deaths
of the LAKETOWN Family members?

WHY is this sooo..important?

1. IT the First time these FOUR
have EVER been in EREBOR..

2. They may have been held as Ransom
by BARD? Only to escape HIM & Legolas

3. A whole sub-plot is quite interesting..
a Sleath journey to the Mountain while
being in PURSUIT?

ANY IDEAS on that?

(Bombyzz OLD eyes aren't SOoo
BAD, after all)

Though visually, those two shots of her are gorgeous as they are. The one of her bare feet striding across the rocks is haunting. I cannot wait to see her as Gimli describes her: an elf-witch of terrible power.

That's right.... [In reply to] Can't Post

For as she moved she sank ankle-deep into the earth, and behind her green welled from the hollows her feet had pressed, welled up and overflowed and spread. . . . the earth brushed by her skirt bore clover, and flowers bloomed where her poppies fell. . .

Red Moon and Black Mountain by Joy Chant. It's an exraordinary story, I think, with lots of powerful visual images. It would make a terrific film, if done well.

Now, back to The Hobbit... Wink

Disappointed [In reply to] Can't Post

I´m a bit disapoinetd with Galadriel, I mean she is my fav character and they have he opportunity to show another side of her, a side that is actually canon. I doubt she went over the Helcaraxe or over the mountains or fought at Alqualondë in a beautiful dress, she´s a Noldo, they have armor and they let her walk across the battlefield as if she is some fairy princess, really gives me more the impression as if she´s just an illusion of Gandalf, similar to Frodo when she helped him to get up, though I hope she´s really there.
