As the Forrest Gump IMAX trailer was originally followed by Big Hero 6. So trailer either this weekend or on Monday (as I was told)

I think that's the length they gave on the British listing - unless I'm dreaming It's a teaser, isn't it

I know that we knew that already, but still...
"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring, and its effect on people. You know, you can kind of forget what we were doing, if you get too wrapped up in that." - Viggo Mortensen

It's almost 2 minutes, not short at all. It is, after all, a "teaser". Sure, AUJ and DOS had longer teasers, but they had to tease more, as they had more plot points to cover/show and hint at. With BOTFA, all they really need is around a minute and a half to give us a glimpse of the major plot points: Lake-town attack, Dol Guldur attack, BOTFA. So 1min48sec is perfect for that. Would you rather have to wait till October for a full trailer?

I believe that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rates trailers for U.S. theaters just as they do for feature films.

Many films are shot in Alberta For Example: the FIRST "Superman" w/ Christopher Reeves many MOONS ago... Why? Cheaper Stagehands than the USA... Letzz Not Forget "BrokeBack Mountain"...UH? "X-files" in Vancouver, BC...UH? "The New TwightZONE...UH? "The 13th Warrior" "Moonstruck"...in Toronto? UH?... .... Bomby forgets HOW..many movies have been shot in Canada? Hollywood HATES Canada..because many of the BEST "technical people" would rather work there than in "HOLLYweird"? "Keen Observer" (HERE, on TORn TV?) livezz in Vancouver..(works in Film, there) .He would know more? or Google..... "Films shot in Alberta, Canada" ABSOLUTELY shocking results..?

I'm guessing this is one of the reasons it's shorter as well. They need more time to work on the effects before they show them off.

But I have no idea why the listing of a trailer on that one provincial website is a reliable signal of its imminent release. Kudos to the person who figured that out, whoever it was. Anybody know the how and why of this?

They only seem to post their ratings for the films themselves. Not for other marketing material.

We Canadians don't use the mpaa ratings. Each province has its own ratings board and Alberta's is kind enough to post their ratings of films and trailers as they finish rating them. They are legit and accurate. If a trailer is rated on their site it usually will be available within a week.
