Amazing! Smaug looks terrifying. I was quivering in my boots (excuse the pun for Bard there)! However...

a) Shouldn't he be at the Windlance instead of on the middle of the bridge gawking at Smaug? b) Is this not too much of a give-away as to what is going to happen, to those who have not read the books? [The title was giving away enough already! ]
..The Lord of Silver Fountains .....The King of Carven Stone ..The King Under the Mountain .......Shall come into his own ..And the bells will ring in gladness ......At the Mountain King's return ..But all shall fail in sadness ....And the lake will shine and burn

"b) Is this not too much of a give-away as to what is going to happen, to those who have not read the books?" Well, DOS ends with Smaug heading towards Lake Town. So, we know that (a considerable amount of) bad stuff will eventually happen :)

This poster has me completely joy-stricken! I cannot believe it would be such an awesome poster! Although I should've never doubted! Peter's caption pretty much confirms that there prob will be a teaser for BOFA at Comic-Con this week, right?? Right!? Oh god...I can't wait for this movie....we're almost there! Only 5 more months!

True. After all it is a 75~or~odd-year old book.

But my friends at school never heard of The Hobbit nor seen the previous two films before finding out about this movie nor heard of LOTR. And, yes. I daresay that (as Bilbo said) where a sickness [aka Thorin entering the mountain looking for the Arkenstone] thrives, bad things will follow...

Understandable, it's slightly odd to see Bard as the main character, but it work fantastically as an image....

that Bard will take down Smaug with a good old fashioned bow-and-arrow and that the windlance has perhaps been a red herring... but this is highly unlikely I think! Anyhow, fantastic poster - let's hope the trailer lives up to it!

Shut me up! And the idea of Bard going head to head with Smaug is intriguing - after all, isn't the black arrow hidden in wee boat tied to a wharf? So badass!

Breathtaking! I love it! Omg, now it is starting!
“And the ship went out into the High Sea and passed into the West, until at last on a night of rain Frodo smelled a sweet fragrance on the air and heard the sound of singing that came over the water. And then it seemed to him that as in his dream in the house of Bombadil, the grey rain-curtain turned all to silver glass and was rolled back, and he beheld white shores and beyond them a far green country under a swift sunrise.”

It's still a cool idea IMO. Epic. And I'm not enough of a weapons expert to know if a true longbow - the large kind that were evidently very powerful - could fire a black arrow or not (assuming a black arrow is made of iron tho the WETA book seems to be saying it had a wooden shaft??). Or if one of Bard' usual arrows which look pretty big could take out a dragon, if the dragon is hit in the eye. Or is that anti-canon? Oooops. Anyway - EPIC poster. But, I thought this FB post was poignant, so: Quote "Sir Peter Jackson, please don't forget about those of us who cannot afford events like SDCC. We are no less fans for that." Thankfully TORn does not forget about the thousands who cannot go to SDCC - and from what I read having to sit in a line for like 48 hours? or more - uh, think they really need to expand the venue if I read that right. If Bard really does go head-on w. Smaug - LOL phooey on Robin Hood and all those other legendary archers! PS2 Is TORn going to be getting all its members copies?

Best LOTR/Hobbit poster by a country mile.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
