Screencap of the Day - The View From Afar Can't Post

Welcome to Screencap of the Day! I'm going to cheat a bit today and post 5 screencaps today. They're all taken from the same moment just after Mount Doom has exploded. There was no corresponding screencap for Legolas, otherwise I would have included him here.

You can find the full-sized images HERE and HERE.

Only one question today: Each character grieves in their own way. What do you see in each of these faces?

P.S. I promise to pick only one image for my second post later this week! Smile

Great Pictures! [In reply to] Can't Post

Merry: Startled and amazed
Gandalf: Shocked, maybe because he didn't foresee this result - almost as if he now understands what's happening
Aragorn: Total awe
Gimli: Almost confused
Pippin: Only one not standing - really shows his utter despair

Sorry that's all I got. Leaving for work here so can't post any more.

How many Tolkien fans does it take to change a light bulb?

"Change? Oh my god, what do you mean change?! Never, never, never......"

Expressions [In reply to] Can't Post

It's interesting to observe how the facial expressions in this moment are in keeping with each of their characters' unique personalities. Here's my take:

Merry -- shock
Gandalf -- fear (guilt, maybe?)
Aragorn -- sadness
Gimli -- not believing yet, denial
Pippin -- utter despair

There was no corresponding screencap for Legolas

I guess we'll have to imagine one for Legolas :). I think his expression would have been similar to Aragorn's, one of sadness.
