That gets me some confidence that the trailer will be attached to Cruise's Edge of Tomorrow. Only a week's difference from Man of Steel last year (MoS was one week later). Guess we'll have to keep watch on the Alberta Film Ratings site this week. And fwiw, here's the tweet before the one Carne quoted:
"Today I've mostly been doing battle cries into a microphone #Hobbit3ADR"
Nice to hear something about BoFA! I can't remember the last time we had heard from anyone since DOS came out. Looking forward to more as the impending trailer looms!

I would think that by the time the cast sees it we're pretty close. I don't think cast opinion is a top priority when making a trailer, so I'm guessing it's done and ready to roll for the most part. If it comes out with The Edge of Tomorrow, I'd expect it to premier with the May 30 release date, rather than the June 6 date for North America. So if this is true, the trailer should be announced any day, considering May 30 is 4 days away.

Or maybe a day or two earlier on the internet. Internationally, trailers usually aren't attached to specific movies like in North America.

So I'm just wondering why the trailer would wait for the time around the North American movie release. Wouldn't you think it would get more publicity and viewings if it came out on the earlier date, since that's when all other countries, including The UK, have the premier? That way the initial movie viewers would see the trailer.

Probably because it's a bigger operation to launch a trailer internationally since they have to dub it in God knows how many languages. Plus not all movies come out day and date worldwide or within a week. Even in North America you are not guaranteed to see the trailer in front of the specific movie. Wouldn't be the first time i've read reports from disappointed moviegoers that expected to see a trailer.

Getting very excited ready that tweet. I think we should all enjoy this buzz now, because remember the trailer could be awful in which case we should cherish the anticipation while we can. I did consider not watching any clips, trailers or hearing any music of this one before seeing the film. I've never done that before and it would make the film full of more surprises. It's unlikely I'll stick to it because I challenge some people here to give it a go! My hopes for the trailer: Don't show off too many of the epic battle shots (save them for the film!) Show some nice character dialogue Don't reveal Dain (or any other characters we haven't yet seen) I hope the battle looks organic and not green screen fake looking (I know they shot a lot on the large outdoor Dale set and the snow should reduce the artificial look of it).

Now this gets me excited! Can't wait! i get goosebumps ahaha!
" Why, O people of Noldor! Fëanor cried. Why should we longer serve the jealous Valar, who cannot keep us nor even their own realm secure from their enemy? And though he be now their foe, are not they and he of one kin? Vengence calls me hence, but even were it otherwise I would not dwell longer in the same land with the kin of my father's slayer and of the thief of treasure. Yet i am not the only valiant in this valiant people. And have ye not all lost your King? And what else have ye not lost, cooped here in a narrow land between the mountains and the sea? Here once was light, that the Valar begrudged to middle-earth, but now dark levels all. Shall we mourn here deedless forever, a shadow-folk, mist-haunting, dropping vain tears in the thankless sea? Or shall we return to our home? In cuiviènen sweet ran the waters under uncloaded stars, and wide lands lay about, where a free people might walk. There they lie still and await us who in out folly forsook them. Come away! Let the cowards keep this city!"

"I think we should all enjoy this buzz now, because remember the trailer could be awful in which case we should cherish the anticipation while we can." Could be - I remember how po'd I was last year at the L &T elf spam re the teaser, tho I didn't think the trailer was awful. Thought the music was boring and one-note plus bad CGI. Course it turned out great in the end, with an epic trailer #2 and new banners etc. My suspicion is that wisely this early trailer isn't going to reveal much - but that doesn't make it awful. Just holding the good stuff until later.
