Orchrist and the Goblin King Can't Post

Maybe this question has been asked before but couldn't find it. Was curious as I had the impress
that Orchrist was also a 1st age elven blade, possibly from Gondolin like Glamdring.
When the Goblin King saw Orchrist the reaction was "I know that blade", likewise all the goblins
wigged out when it was slightly unsheathed.
So this makes me curious on the age of goblins? Do we assume they are descended in a manner
from elves and retain immortality/longevity? That the Goblin King and crew actually remember Orchrist from
previous ages back?

Any light that could be shed on this would be most appreciated.
Thanks

This is presently being discussed... [In reply to] Can't Post

...from a slightly different point of view (though it's really the same issue) in this thread in the Reading Room (and a slightly more recent related thread).

It's an interesting question, but unfortunately Tolkien didn't leave any definitive answer.
