your changes of winning are infinitesimally greater if you actually buy a ticket.

My sister-in-law (supposedly) won twice... [In reply to] Can't Post

...using the following method: if a toad or turtle comes into your house (I live in Thailand), turn it over and note the pattern on its ventral side (it may resemble numbers), and buy those numbers.

Then again, I don't always believe everything my brother-in-law says.

Don't mess with my favorite female elf.

True...and they say the definition [In reply to] Can't Post

of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over and expecting a different result....so I guess play the lotto once and only repeat if you win!!
(or get some neighbor to buy the ticket!)

I consider it a donation to community groups [In reply to] Can't Post

with a tiny chance of getting something back.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

I prefer to think of them [In reply to] Can't Post

as a donation to the state park system. At least that's where the money goes where I live :-)
