What is your biggest dream? Can't Post

I have many dreams but one in particular is to meet J K Rowling. What are your dreams?

Be the captain/owner of a tramp steamer in the South Pacific.

Don't think it's going to happen.

How long have you got? [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't think I could name a single biggest dream.

I have my personal dream (to get to Antarctica), my professional dream (to be successful in my job), my family dream (to have a healthy family), my lifestyle dream (to be financially stable), and then my own selfish dreams.

And then there's a whole list of other little hopes and ambitions.

I'm not sure I could follow one single path to tick off all those dreams, nor will I probably succeed in reaching them all, but it's worth a shot.

comic book store [In reply to] Can't Post

I have an ever growing list of things I want to do/accomplish: certain places I want to travel to, marriage and children, people I would like to meet and have a good long conversation with, write at least one novel, see bands that I have yet to see live, the list goes on and on. But the one thing I would absolutely love to do that I have dreamed/made plans for since I was young is to open a comic book store. Have comic books, graphic novels, all kinds of memrobilia, clothing, figures, collectibles, all kinds of Tolkien and Jackson stuff, horror movie stuff, etc etc. A place where people who loved that stuff could come and have fun and hang out. aahhhh maybe someday Cool Smile

I created the sound of madness, wrote the book on pain.

I'll settle for [In reply to] Can't Post

getting it all in a coherent form, myself. The journey of putting it together is where the catharsis is for me and the satisfaction of "sorting it all out" and "working through it".

Of course if I got all that done then maybe publishing *could* happen (but I feel like that is a job for someone else and it will be enough to just get it all down for me).

So do you have your books all "together" and such, then?

If all the world's a stage then who's writing the script?

do you follow this story? It's a lot of fun and often involves tramp steamers in the South Pacific.

Oh no! As a matter fact, I doubt that any of the stuff I've written so far will ever get to print or that I would even want them to. I'm not ashamed to admit that I don't think my writings are, that *I* am ready for that yet. I'm still in what you might call "a practicing phase", developing my skills, getting to know my writer-self etc. I have yet a lot to learn. (Patience, for example, as I have a bad habit of not finishing what I've started.) But as I've had this drive to express myself through written word pretty much as long as I've been able to, I can't help but hope I'll one day produce something worth sharing with the public.

I have been very lucky [In reply to] Can't Post

and many of my teenage dreams (or rather, ambitions) have been fulfilled, through hard work and a bit of luck, of course.
That said, one dream at least remains: visiting New Zealand (very far, very expensive, and difficult to organize in terms of working schedules).

If my life had taken a different path ten years ago or so, I would have probably left for NZ to try my luckSmile

Many [In reply to] Can't Post

I am a proven dreamer. As they say in resumes these days "self-driven, enthusiastic and goal oriented". I've always been. Some of these most "unbeliavable" dreams came true, for good or not. What I still want is to have my own successful business. Never made it to even try, for many reasons, and many gaps in my wallet and connections. Then I'm also among those who wanted to be a professional writer. I've had awards as a student, blah blah. My novel never saw the shelves in the bookstores, was rejected so many times that I don't remember them all and in fact, the times when I was just dreaming of it were far bettter than the times when I had to realize no one wanted it. I dream of us all being healthy, of a happy family. A house. I sometimes see one that I fall in love with and take photos of her... Of my favorite South France and a villa there... A yacht to go sailing. My own horses. And many travel destinations, I feel alive when I travel.

To be the first person on Mars. [In reply to] Can't Post

In terms of perspective, I'd say that that one is #1 in the ranking for unattainability at first glance, so I'd call it 'biggest' in the sense of being the most fantastical, impractical, and the one I'd think least likely to achieve. Though I am moving toward it obliquely.

Coming back to Earth......Laugh

I'd also love to finish,( and find time to do so) just a few of the stories I've conceptualised. Getting published would be a bonus (Really, I'm just a little to lazy about this...)

I'd also like to eventually get to a place where I can do some teaching part-time regularly (Doesn't matter what, really) and help make a difference in people's lives.

Climbing a glacier is on my bucket list. I don't know if that counts...

And that's about it.....

The rest are pretty much attainable goals (mastering an instrument, learning language, etc...)with lots of hard work and patience involved.

What can I say? I'm a pretty practical person who has the occasional flight of fancy. Well-grounded, but I still enjoy the ride!!

Call me Rem, and remember, not all who ramble are lost...Uh...where was I?

I was supposed to be able to retire this year (at 62yo), but thanks to changes in laws... I have to wait until I'm 65. Everything got cut, decreased, increased or taxed. *sigh*

My other major dream came true already, thanks to TORn. I went to Wellington for a week... and I'm still homesick for it! :D
