Will we hear Smaug talk agian? Can't Post

During his attack on Laketown, will he ever stop his flight and confront Bard with speech on the rooftops or taunt Fili and Kili.
Or could we just hear roars and grunts or a ARRGGG?

Maybe. [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't see Smaug pausing to make a speech, but he might shout out a couple of lines or so during his attack.

There's a line in the book about how much Smaug is enjoying himself [In reply to] Can't Post

as he attacks Laketown, and we get a glimpse of some of his thoughts. I would love to see that verbalized or portrayed somehow during the movie, since it makes him so interesting as a character.

Hop to it, Radagast, we've got dark powers to sleigh.

If there's no talking at all it would be disappointing [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm for 99,99% sure that his attack on Lake-town won't just be flying around and shooting fireballs at the houses and people. Just remember his "I'm fire, I'm death" line... who was he talking to? To himself because he things he is the coolest and greatest of all. I'm pretty sure that he will shout things like "Run you little worms it won't help you... you all will die" or something like that. He will taunt the Lake-towners, he will taunt Bard and propably he will taunt Kili and Fili He enjoys every scream and he will play with his victims as he did with Bilbo. He wants them to suffer. As PJ said: Smaug is a psychopath.

Also I don't think that he will die after 10 minutes. TABA will start with a short prologue but shortly later Smaugs attack needs to begin. Perhaps he even will speak to Bard when he tries to use the windlance against him. We already have a dragon attack on a human city without any talking (AUJ and DOS flashbacks). There will be talking.

Hopefully [In reply to] Can't Post

One of the things I disliked the most about the Smaug chase is that he didn't speak at all for most of it. I guess he didn't really need to, but I would have liked more of him saying things like "flee for your lives," which he did but only at the very beginning.

I'm hoping for him doing a nice production number. [In reply to] Can't Post

Maybe start with the ominous "Smoke on the Water" building up to the frenetic "Disco Inferno", with some riffs from "The Roof is on Fire".

Yeah, that'd be cool.
