I've never heard that before [In reply to] Can't Post

It was nice.Smile The lyrics of course are a little sad but I like how minimalistic it is with the singer's voice being the loudest and the music just barely audible in the background.

I'm still reading my way through the trilogy so I can't quite remember, was that song in one of the books? FOTR maybe?

"So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine"

Sam sang it on Weathertop [In reply to] Can't Post

The Tolkien Gateway wrote:
According to Aragorn, it was originally written in an ancient tongue. It was Bilbo Baggins who later translated it into the Common Tongue, and taught it to Samwise Gamgee in his youth. It seems to be a long poem, telling the story of the War of the Last Alliance, at least to the point where Gil-galad aided in the overthrow of Sauron, and was himself slain.

Sam narrated the three introductory stanzas while approaching Weathertop. Aragorn and Frodo knew more of the text.

The Hobbitons recorded the song using the same tune (I think most of the melodies on the recording they issued might have been from the radio drama).

I think this tune and this song are my favorite from LOTR. Although a few others are right up there.
