All of these things are addressed in our TORN 201 FAQ (found in the Welcome section). But to summarize: Your avatar is the icon that appears under your username on your posts. Your signature is your "footer" - what appears at the bottom of your posts Your portrait appears on your profile page. So yes, the portrait URL would be where you'd put the link for your profile picture. Like signature images and images in posts, it needs to be hosted elsewhere online and linked to.
