Screencap of the Day: Rohirrim vs Mumakil

Larger image here In this week's SCODs we return to the battle raging outside. The Rohirrim are momentarily stunned by the appearance of the mumakil, but Théoden rallies the troops with his valiant "Reform the line!", and the Rohirrim have charged. As always, please feel free to share whatever comments come to mind. I have a few thoughts around the CGI for these scenes: 1. Given that the huge foot and leg there are completely CGI, what do you think of the reactions of horses' (to the right)? Does it look realistic and in sync with where the mumakil leg appears? 2. Does the foot and leg look realistic for a beast this huge? 3. Speaking of size, what are your thoughts on how large the mumakil are? Book firsters - did you imagine them to be this size? Movie firsters - any thoughts on these amazing creatures? Feel free to chime in - other thoughts and comments are always welcome! Happy Monday everybody !

I saw the movies first but I always imagined Tolkien intended them to big.

1. Given that the huge foot and leg there are completely CGI, what do you think of the reactions of horses' (to the right)? Does it look realistic and in sync with where the mumakil leg appears? It looks very realistic in my opinion. It certainly has me fooled. And that's what I love about these films: the fact that everything has been thought through till the tiniest (or biggest ) little detail. 2. Does the foot and leg look realistic for a beast this huge? They sure do to me. But then again, I've never seen a beast this huge in real life, so... 3. Speaking of size, what are your thoughts on how large the mumakil are? Book firsters - did you imagine them to be this size? Movie firsters - any thoughts on these amazing creatures? A move firster here! I agree, they really are amazing creatures. Extinct ancestors of elephants, that's what they are! Thanks for the cap, Loresilme!
