How old are you? Can't Post

Tolkien fans seem to come in all shapes and sizes. And ages, as I've learned. I thus hope you don't mind me being curious and asking how old (or young) are you? Tongue

One of my students asked me, once, how old I was [In reply to] Can't Post

I was part of a cadre of educators who worked with lots of different classrooms and many of the students were fascinated by my grey hair.

In reply to that student, I said, "old".

"How old?"

"Really old."

"In numbers, how old?"

"100."

"Oh. *pause as they considered the answer* ... Mrs. Timmins is older than you. She's 101."

haha... I had to laugh because I knew the conversation with her had gone just the same as mine. Only Mrs. Timmins had aimed higher. :-)

When I first started discussing LOTR and the soundtrack online, I was conversing with a lot of young people who always imagined everyone was the same age as they were. I didn't want to mislead them about my age so I took to telling people I was older than book Frodo when he left the Shire to destroy the Ring. That was 10 years ago.

I also would say, "Among many of my online peers, I am considered an elder. Which should not be confused with Eldar."
