Judging by the onscreen evidence, [In reply to] Can't Post

Tauriel is the better fighter and would likely wipe the floor with Eowyn.

OTOH, when Eowyn despairs of hope and life, that is when she finds the strength to do the impossible. So I'd say the outcome would depend greatly on Eowyn's emotional state/frame of mind.

I'd pay-for-view that fight. EvilHeart

Tauriel with bow & arrow [In reply to] Can't Post

Éowyn has passion, but Tauriel has range and superior skill.

Arrows, say hello to Mr. Shield.

Sword, say hello to Ms. Elf.

Tauriel, say hello to Mr. and Mrs. Death and all the petit morts.

******************************************
Brothers, sisters,
I was Elf once.
We danced together
Under the Two Trees.
We sang as the soft gold of Laurelin
And the bright silver of Telperion,
Brought forth the dawn of the world.
Then I was taken.

Brothers, sisters,
In my torment I kept faith,
And I waited.
But you never came.
And when I returned you drew sword,
And when I called your names you drew bow.
Was my Eldar beauty all,
And my soul nothing?

So be it.
I will return your hatred,
And I am hungry.

I am loving [In reply to] Can't Post

the responses about Tauriel not being a real character. Laughing endlessly, so thank you for that. Um....Eowyn. She slays the Witch King. Tauriel (probably, hopefully) dies in the Battle of Five Armies. No competition.

Eowyn [In reply to] Can't Post

Because she's my favorite character.

"It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule." Gandalf, "The Last Debate."

EOWYN ALL THE WAY! [In reply to] Can't Post

Tauriel killed some orcs.
And a couple spiders.
And recieved a massive beatdown by Bolg, watch Kili die and fail to avenge his death.

Eowyn killed orcs too.
She also killed the Witch-King and avenged her uncle's death.
She also beheaded a Fell Beast.
And maimed Gothmog.
And singlehandedly took down a Mumakil all by herself.
And assisted in the takedown of a second Mumakil (how many Haradrim losts their lives when they went down?)
If we're also taking deleted scenes into account Eowyn also defended the Glittering Caves from the Uruk-Hai by herself.

Tauriel might have the fancy gymnastics and archery skills but Eowyn was far more hardcore and accomplished more as a warrior. This isn't even a contest.
