     Four MTV Award nominations for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

#VoteBilbo Nominations for the 2014 MTV Awards have just been announced, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is up for four of those golden popcorn buckets.

This year, The Hobbit has snared nominations for:

* Movie of the Year
* Best Hero (Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins)
* Best Fight (for Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly vs. Orcs)
* Best on-screen Transformation (Orlando Bloom)

You might recall that last year that Ringers were instrumental in Martin Freeman snaring the award for Best Hero in a closely fought hashtag battle against Snow White that raged across Twitter for several weeks. It seems that this year, hashtags won't be used to decide the vote for Best Hero (maybe we gave MTV cold feet), so it may be a tough battle for Freeman to retain his crown.

However, you can still go to the MTV site and VoteBilbo -- and lend your support for the other three nominations for The Desolation of Smaug. Just head to the MTV Awards and login with either your Facebook or Twitter account (or you can create an account over there on MTV) and, presto -- happy voting!

     What on Earth??? [In reply to]

Is this a joke?

Best on-screen transformation (Orlando Bloom)

Best fight (ditto and EL vs Orks)

This is indeed laughable. I smell a pay-off to someone.

Thanks very much for posting this anyway – the first two are right for me, anyway.

     What does "onscreen transformation" mean? [In reply to]

I'm baffled. Apparently I don't speak MTV. Tongue

Sauron: "Mine's better."
