New Hobbit figures revealed at Toy Fair 2014 Can't Post

The Bridge Direct had their Hobbit action figures on display at New York Toy Fair today. Beorn and Bard were revealed in 3.75" scale, as well as a box representing a Deluxe Smaug.
3.75" Radagast and the still yet-to-be-produced dwarves (first shown at last year's Toy Fair) were also on display. I haven't seen any news on the 6" scale yet. More photos can be seen by clicking here.

No Smaug pics beyond packaging [In reply to] Can't Post

It's a shame that they didn't reveal Smaug in all his scaly glory.

I'm also anticipating the debut of a LEGO Smaug.

bleh [In reply to] Can't Post

sadly the lego smaug does not look movie accurate, his "crown" looks like statue of libberty rather than smaug.

smaug has 2 main horns on the sides and a small one in middle. lego one has a big one in middle and a range of small ones on the sides...

"That's unfortunate [In reply to] Can't Post

Still, things can happen between the prototype and the actual, released figure or set.

More pics (also, Bolg?) [In reply to] Can't Post

Found some more websites with pictures of the figures:

Toyark

Kastor's Korner

Oddly enough, the old Bolg is among them. I realize it appears to be a mix of old and new figures, but I thought that Bolg was cancelled? Hmm.

This is encouraging news [In reply to] Can't Post

Even a week ago it would have been safe to say that the line was pretty much dead. Now we play the "wait and see" game.

"It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule." Gandalf, "The Last Debate."

Cancelled or renamed? [In reply to] Can't Post

Games Workshop still produce and sell the old Bolg design but today it's just called "Gundabad General"... perhaps Bridge direct do the same with the old Bolg figure... which has been produced I guess... perhaps the old Bolg design does appear in TABA but not as Bolg but as one of Bolgs or Azogs bodyguards? I think they just changed his name

More Information [In reply to] Can't Post

A little more information has trickled out since Toy Fair, but not much. And of course it is all subject to change:

  • The Bridge Direct is still having trouble getting stores to stock The Hobbit figures, and may try for more "specialty" retailers.
  • They still plan to release the original design of Bolg in 6 inch scale, renamed Gundabad Orc.
  • Deluxe Smaug is in development, TBD's designers are working with Warner Bros.
  • TBD is working on another Hobbit-related San Diego Comic-Con exclusive figure.
  • Completing the dwarves in 3.75 inch scale is a priority.
  • Planning for release in October 2014.

Thanks stormcrow20 :) [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm really holding out for a Smaug figure. Smaug with Bilbo in any statue/figure format would make me fall right down on the floor ;)
