Another coffee painting

I've finished another coffee painting! :) I painted Gollum/Smeagol; it was a kind of break from the other portrait I'm making. I will give this Gollum-painting to a friend who deserves it ;) http://imgur.com/a/Anrsm I use only instant coffee and water. The other painting I'm working on is a scene with Radagast and Gandalf, which I can now focus on again: http://imgur.com/a/3IzQ5 I will probably sell the last one, but I'm not sure yet. I'd like to sell it to the highest bidder, so I need to decide on where and how ^^

Beautiful work. You really capture Gollum's menace in the posture and expression, and Gandalf & Radagast look so wise and wizardly. The color of the instant coffee is such a great fit for Tolkien topics, gives them an 'ancient' feel. What made you decide to start using instant coffee as a medium?

I'm very pleased too, fantasy portraits really do come alive with coffee :) I decided to try it after seeing Jenny Dolfe's Tolkien art made with coffee. She posted a tutorial, but the first time it didn't really do it for me. I kept experimenting until I perfected the shades to my liking ^^

Because what i am seeing here is just astounding. Just, astounding. I like browns too. There is a richness to it, as the woods are, as rich tilled earth. You have some skill with a brush my Lady:)
" 'Fair lady Goldberry!' said Frodo at last, feeling his heart move with a joy that he did not understand. He stood as he had at times stood enchanted by fair elven-voices; but the spell that was now laid upon him was different: less keen and lofty was the delight, but deeper and nearer to mortal heart; marvellous and yet not strange." Chapter VII: In the House of Tom Bombadil; FOTR's Faerie contains many things besides elves and fays and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are one in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted." — J.R.R. Tolkien
