I know exactly what I'd want to do! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'd follow the costume designer Ann Maskrey around like a puppy! I absolutely adore all the costumes she designed, but especially Thranduil's outfits. IMO, she is the MASTER of costumes and I love how much thought she apparently puts into the designs! I'd also love to have met John Howe and Alan Lee as well as anyone else who helped design/build the sets. I would have been able to go on location as well as the sound stages and been able to watch pretty much all the filming while being in my own personal arts and crafts heaven!Angelic

Happy Valentines Day to you too Bomby.Smile

Not makeup and prosthetics. [In reply to] Can't Post

Actors might have early starts but the makeup people are ready to go when the actors get there, and are packing up after the actors leave at the end of the day. Their days are damn long.

Stunt double would be cool - if I wasn't, you know, a clutz.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Stuntman/Extra [In reply to] Can't Post

As long as it involves swinging swords, I'm all over it.

Although Bomby has a good thought about flying helicopters. Too bad I'm strictly a fixed-wing pilot; rotary wings give me the willies.

I would have wanted to work on the location shoots [In reply to] Can't Post

Just so that I could see the wildlife and scenery of New Zealand.

Not sure whether I would have wanted to work on any of the sets, since I've worked on photo shoots in the past and found it extremely tedious because of all the hanging around. I wouldn't be particularly interested in meeting any of the actors, either – I'm more interested in the characters the actors portray, than who they are as private personalities.

I would have loved to be one of the set dressers. I never get tired of watching the backgrounds and appreciating all of the gorgeous, handcrafted props. I also love the costumes, but since I don't sew very well, I don't think the costume people would want me around for very long. Smile

An extra [In reply to] Can't Post

Being nearly six foot with cheekbones, I really did want to be an elf extra! But having a more 'earthy' look, could also have been completely at home as a Laketown citizen. I did a teensy bit of extra work when much younger - seeing how things work on PJ's set would be fascinating, and I don't mind all the waiting around involved.

Being a NZ citizen living in Australia, I went as far as to download the 'extra audition' application form, thinking I could take a month off work to hang around Wellington. But I learnt I would have to be on call, and living locally, for six months. (I'd need a less demanding job and a geeky boss who'd say "just go and live the dream.")

But as for the production team., I would love to be involved in either set dressing, or creating sound effects (as my current job has an audio engineering aspect).

'O' is very useful. You use it when you say... "Oscar's only ostrich oiled an orange owl today."

That would probably be incredibly frustrating. [In reply to] Can't Post

Feeling as you do about the movies, wouldn't it be frustrating if what you wrote didn't match PJ's vision and was rejected or ignored? I think that's what would happen, because it seems to me that Jackson marches to his own drummer.

Example: It is clear on the director/writer commentary for RotK that Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens did not approve of Aragorn decapitating the Mouth of Sauron (nor do I), but it happened anyway.

Did you notice there's a man in Laketown called Percy? [In reply to] Can't Post

My first thought was that it sounded very un-Tolkien. Then I wondered if it was a tribute.... The talking purse makes an appearance after all. Only I can't remember if he said anything! Wink
