Characters to appear.... Can't Post

in all six Middle Earth movies. Counting the EE's of course :P Off the top of my head I can only think of three characters who could be in "There and Back Again" having appeared in the previous 5 movies, they are Gandalf, Galadriel and Sauron/Necromancer. The latter two only really having minor roles in some of the other movies.

There are a few more who could potentially appear in five movies they are:
Bilbo (Wasn't in The Two Towers)
Frodo (Wasn't in Desolation of Smaug)
Elrond(Wasn't in Desolation of Smaug)
Saruman (Wasn't in Desolation of Smaug)
Legolas (Wasn't in An Unexpected Journey)

What it tells us is how important PJ thinks Galadriel is to the fate of Middle Earth.

Galadriel just made it! [In reply to] Can't Post

Nice list Jim! It really surprised me that those are the only three characters. Btw, they will undoubtedly be in TABA. Gandalf and Sauron are givens and Cate Blanchett confirmed a while back that "I know I'm in the last one." I really can't think of any other characters who would be in all six. Wait a minute...how about the Ring?...kind of the same thing as Sauron...but not quite...

Another possible but unlikely 5 film character is Gollum. He could be shown in TABA searching for the thief who stole his precious.

"I've found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk, that keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because Im afraid, and he gives me courage. - Gandalf the Grey.

"Do not be afraid Mithrandir, if ever you should need my help, I will come." - Lady Galadriel.

It surprised me as well... [In reply to] Can't Post

that only three characters will make it across all six movies. I completely forgot about Gollum there is still a possibility he could appear in the final movie having not appeared in Desolation of Smaug.

You are forgettin's someone!! [In reply to] Can't Post

Peeta Jicksin'. WinkWinkWink
Was there in FOTR, TTT, ROTK, AUJ and DOS. All of'em. Cool

To sum up my views on the first Hobbit film:

- It's not the Phantom Menace.
- The CGI is worse than LOTR
- Is it Freeman playing Bilbo or the other way round?
- Best villain - Goblin King
- Re: Bestest villain - Gollum
- Thorin is good but Bofur's the best!
- Too much attention on Armitage. Must rectify in DOS
- Azog is a weird heterogenous mixture of General Mandible and old Voldy. (which is bad)
- How many times will SIM have to play Gandalf to win an Oscar????
- I'm a Serkis-freak
- Freeman = Best hobbit till date
- Will I watch DOS? Are you outta yer freakin' mind!!!! Sure I would.

Actually [In reply to] Can't Post

Gandalf in TTT was something of an extended Cameo if you think about it, he wasn't in it for that long!

Uh... [In reply to] Can't Post

What about when he comes back as Gandalf the White? Crazy

Also, I'd say it's even less likely we'll also see Frodo in TABA than we'll see Gollum; I'm fairly certain he'll have not even been born yet.

Except that [In reply to] Can't Post

the framing story is Bilbo committing his memories to Frodo on paper, so in that context I think it's very likely that things will come full circle - as I've said in another thread, especially if the Moria tragedy is addressed, as Bilbo would not have found out about that before Frodo set out from Rivendell.

I'm not sure we watched the same film, [In reply to] Can't Post

because this makes no sense at all unless your not counting Gandalf the White. He had a large presence in the film even with less screen time than the other films, but he had a decent chunk of scenes as well.
