Everything Wrong with... Can't Post

...The Fellowship of the Ring in 7 Minutes or Less

...The Two Towers in 7 Minutes or Less

...The Return of the King in 7 Minutes or Less

These videos (apparently not to be confused with the similarly-titled video linked a few posts lower on this forum) are the latest installments in an ongoing series called "Cinema Sins" that skewers, or attempts to skewer, blockbuster films. I haven't watched these installments yet, but I enjoyed the same group's takedown of the overrated Avengers. From the comments, it seems that (a) many fans attempt to rebut these supposed "sins" in Jackson's films by directing the humorists to read the books (an argument that squire has repeatedly punctured on TORN) and (b) that one should be sure to watch these LOTR jab-fests all the way to the end.

Outrightly refuse to watch them [In reply to] Can't Post

The knockdown of The Hobbit had me rather annoyed, since it became blatantly obvious that the guy doing the commentary had absolutely no knowledge of Tolkien's works or of the bigger picture upon which the films are (loosely) based.

7 minutes! [In reply to] Can't Post

I can do it in 3! Wink

Without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless

As far as any character is 'like me' it is Faramir–except that I lack what all my characters possess: Courage.

A small knowledge of history depresses one with the sense of the everlasting mass and weight of human iniquity

Eh, Everything Wrong With is getting more and more ridiculous. [In reply to] Can't Post

Sometimes, the things they count as movie 'sins' are legitimate problems, plot holes, and other issues that make the movie not as good as it could have been. Sometimes the things they count are tiny nitpicks that your average movie-goer would never notice. And then sometimes the things they count appear to be just personal gripes they have with whatever - frivolous things that shouldn't really count in anyone's books. There's been more of the frivolous gripes lately and not enough of the legitimate problems, in my opinion.

However, I think the guys doing this are aware of this and are just trying to be funny, in their own trollish way. They even did a 'Everything Wrong with Everything Wrong With', wherein they critiqued themselves.

"I had forgotten that. It is hard to be sure of anything among so many marvels. The world is all grown strange. Elf and Dwarf in company walk in our daily fields; and folk speak with the Lady of the Wood and yet live; and the Sword comes back to war that was broken in the long ages ere the fathers of our fathers rode into the Mark! How shall a man judge what to do in such times?"

"As he ever has judged. Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house."

Honest trailer of all the movies (incl. Hobbit) are better [In reply to] Can't Post

Because they are meant to be funny, show some anecdotes and silly scenes but do not nitpick on everything.
Only my opinion. Wink

I didn't know HT had done the Hobbit. The "Best of" Rifftrax of the LotR movies are pretty funny too [In reply to] Can't Post

I love the part in the HT when the voice says "Smog"'; Bofur: "Smaug"; voice:"Smo-ag"; Gandalf: "Smaug"; voice:"Whatever"...Lol!

If you type Rifftrax LotR into the YouTube search engine you'll get different compilations that people have put together of some of the best jokes from Rifftrax of the different LotR movies. The various TTT Rifftrax videos are my favorites and really make me ROFL!Laugh The thing I like about Rifftrax is that, at least in the case of LotR, they actually seem to like the movies and are just poking good humored fun at them instead of pointing out everything wrong with them. (The riffs of the Twilight movies are another story) Basically, they're laughing with LotR fans instead of at them. Smile Of course, the downside is that ever since I showed them to my mother, she insists on calling Legolas "Gweneth Paltrow" Tongue
