The Moria part of FOTR Can't Post

Will it have an even greater sense of depth after the Hobbit films are over? I'm talking about scenes like Dwarrowdelf, the mithril mail, Gandalf mentioning Thorin, and of course Balin's tomb.

The greatest adventure is what lies ahead.

Aw man, Balin's tomb... [In reply to] Can't Post

It's no longer a cold block of stone with a name attached: There's memory of a warm smile, a split beard and pretty gnarly fighter - not to mention a warm companion of Bilbo.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

It already has for me [In reply to] Can't Post

I've watched FOTR a couple of times since AUJ came out, and have found all those parts really poignant. Unsure

It's a shame.. [In reply to] Can't Post

there won't be a direct reference to Ori's body beside Balin's tomb or Oin being killed by the Watcher in the Water.

Anything can happen [In reply to] Can't Post

While I would never condone what George Lucas did to the original Star Wars there would be a big difference here if PJ decided to release a revised FOTR that included some of these references. He would not be changing character (Han shot first as we all know and nothing can erase that memory) or adding footage to "make it better". These addition merely make obvious what many will now know. As long as the original was still available I think this would be acceptable.

Oh definitely [In reply to] Can't Post

They already do, now that they went and created such wonderful individuality and personality for all the dwarves.

And even more so, if there is somewhere at the end of TABA, a mention of Balin considering going to Moria (maybe in reaction to ... well, you know what :-). No spoilers here). I would like that included.

It already does [In reply to] Can't Post

Before the Hobbit films, the only dwarf we really knew was Gimli.

Now, we know many of them. We're more invested in their culture, and we have become attached to some of them.

Moria isn't just a former settlement of a group of people whom we didn't know. It's a personal tragedy.
