The 9s swords Can't Post

Do the 9s swords have powers? Where do they come from... Who made them? Do they have histories like the other famous swords? Reason I'm asking is because in FOTR their swords seem like regular swords but in ROTK the witch kings swords seems pretty magically and powerful. Was this a Peter Jackson addition?

RotK Ch 4, The Siege of Gondor [In reply to] Can't Post

The witchking enters Minas Tirith and challenges Gandalf: "'Die now and curse in vain!' And with that he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade."

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.

Frodo, with the Ring, would have been more use to Sauron alive than dead. [In reply to] Can't Post

Frodo would have eventually turned into a wraith, and become under the control of Sauron. Presumably, it would then have been fairly easy for Sauron to obtain the Ring. Had the Witch-king killed Frodo, then there's no guarantee they would have got the Ring. There's still 3 Hobbits and 1 Man on Weathertop.

Gandalf also says:

If they had succeeded, you would have become like they are, only weaker and under their command. You would have became a wraith under the dominion of the Dark Lord; and he would have tormented you for trying to keep his Ring, if any greater torment were possible than being robbed of it and seeing it on his hand.

They wanted Frodo alive for torture.
