I've heard a few people... [In reply to] Can't Post

say the effects work of the molten gold being dumped on Smaug looks really bad. Is this true or did you think it looked good?

When was that again ? [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't remember in what context he says this...

I only see AUJ once in the theatre, but I think I have to see Smaug a second time, this scene with bilbo was so good I want to know it by heart

Hard to say [In reply to] Can't Post

The whole conversation between Smaug and Bilbo is brilliant, but if I have to pick a single moment, I'll go with the very end, where we see him fly towards Lake town, speaking the ominous words: "I am fire...I am...death."

The convetsation [In reply to] Can't Post

I really liked the Smaug/Bilbo conversation up to the point where Smaug starts talking about Thorin and the Arkenstone. I kind of wish Bilbo had kept the Ring on.

Molten gold..who has seen such an amount of molten gold? [In reply to] Can't Post

I bet no on could tell us how that looks...but they should have added some heat distortion to it, like they did to the Balrog's breath, so it really did look hot.

The gold itself looks great imho. [In reply to] Can't Post

It is the golden statue collasping that many might call bad CGI. However, being a bit familar with molten gold... it actually does look quite weird in real life as well.

So I think the CGI is great... but what they do with it is what might be too much for many people.

It means the return of the true king and a big challenge.

Yes, the way Smaug looks at the statue is genious. [In reply to] Can't Post

But the statue standing there and than becoming fluid again is a challenge for suspension of disbelieve for many, I am sure.

That was pretty ridiculous, but not as bad as Thorin surfing a shield along the top of the molten gold river without getting cooked by the heat.

That is a favo line
Best part is the fact that the Dragon knows about the Ring and it's power (and is not even wanting it)
Gold bath is fun and symbolic.. it is clear they could not stop him with it, although they hoped for sure it would act as asphalt.
The one thing that did seem to hurt a bit was the water !!! Not the dragon itself, but it put out it's flames !
That might be something for movie III with lake town.
For now I am curious about how the Hobbit reaches Bard
What will happen to the dwarfs and lady elf in Lake Town when the d dragon arrivés
What part do the daughters and son of Bard still play. The son knows where the Arrow is.

Everything... [In reply to] Can't Post

I thought he was rightfully the highlight of the film, his ego was fully displayed and what a performance Freeman gave in the banter...expressions and all.

I also loved the confrontation between the dwarves and the dragon...it was really cool....love the scene where the gold is dripping off him as he is about to take flight towards Lake-Town...epic stuff!
