Film 2013 bbc uk 11pm gmt Can't Post

im not sure whether to watch it tonight as they are reviewing DOS.

will they slate it? use spoilers? arrrgh what to do!

might be interesting, they have had both bradshaw (guardian 4*,) and robbie collin (telegraph 2*) on the show at different times, so might get a punch up!

This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party.

In which case, I would expect... [In reply to] Can't Post

...it to be better than Collin's, but less enthusiastic than Bradshaw's.

how do you know that, isnt it a live programme?

maybe we could twitter bombard them with hobbit good vibes, the also want you to tweet, they deserve a bit of spamming as they generally speak out of there &^$

Ha - worth a try. [In reply to] Can't Post

And I should say, comments were in reference to the opinion of the guest reviewer. No idea what Claudia Winkleman or Danny Leigh will have thought of the film (if indeed they've seen it). Only a few minutes until we find out...

hmmm [In reply to] Can't Post

i hate that smarmy guy on it, but he seemed to like it, i guess that was exactly the review i expected, and would probably give myself when i see it!

overblown fan fiction, but bloody good fun, needs more bilbo, less made up stuff!

spot on i hate to admit, for both review and for a summary of the film!

This is a serious journey, not a hobbit walking-party.

They All Seemed To Like It/Love It [In reply to] Can't Post

Claudia called it "tremendous," whilst Danny Leigh who disliked the first film, really liked the second. Comparing it to the sort of action adventure films as "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Catherine Bray, who is a Tolkien fan, had complaints about the changes to the story. But still liked the movie. She was moaning about the love triangle, not surprisingly.

the woman was horrible, "wah this isn't lord of the rings". You don't have to accept her views just because you want to appear tolerant or 'equal'.

I did a breakdown in the Review 17 thread [In reply to] Can't Post

Didn't see this thread, apologies. I did mention it yesterday in 16 though that I would post a breakdown. Got Danny's name wrong thought it was James. Didn't know the other woman's name. Don't tend to watch this show anymore as can't stand Claudia Winkleman but she loved it and wasn't fond of AUJ. So it was a positive outlook this time.

Agreed [In reply to] Can't Post

She reckons Legolas shouldn't even be there and Tauriel is a completely made up character.

I, personally can't understand why Legolas shouldn't be there? He is an Elf of Mirkwood and do the dwarves not visit Mirkwood. The only reason Tolkien didn't include Legolas in the story was because he hadn' invented him yet, but I am sure if you asked him he would say that he was involved in the events of the Hobbit.
Secondly, Tauriel, is an Elf of Mirkwood, I do not see why it is such a problem for to have a name. I'm pretty sure everybody has a name or an identity. I'm a massive Tolkien fan, but have zero problem with the film changes because they are films, not the books and nothing can change Tolkien's writings, so instead of getting angry about changes why not just enjoy them?
