Here's a picture of the new Bolg! Can't Post

http://i902.photobucket.com/...2144_zps7ba1f700.jpg

Thoughts?

I like it a lot. I was never too fond of the old prosthetic design of him.

"Seriously, why was the scene with CGI dwarf ass NOT in the theatrical cut?!"

Yes, so much better. [In reply to] Can't Post

Really good.

Praise is subjective. And so is criticism.

I really do like it. [In reply to] Can't Post

I loved his old design as well, and I was concerned when the rumors that he was being turned into CGI became true. But I must say I am happily impressed Smile

I really like it actually, very cool but I still prefer the old design [In reply to] Can't Post

Im hoping they will use the old design for perhaps another orc in TABA as its such a great design, also I feel bad for Conan Stevens.

THANK YOU! [In reply to] Can't Post

I really like it. It looks like they kept most of what was great about the previous design. Looks knarly as hell!

Awesome, thanks so much! Been waiting to see this design for soooo long!

Can't wait to see him in action, and then in BO5A!

I do like the armor bit and beard on the other one a bit more though. I just need Weta to make a statue of this already. Cool

The "other bolg" might have been better as the Azog it was intended for.

That could have been cool [In reply to] Can't Post

The problem is though and why I think you needed both to be CGI is it might look funky with one real and one CGI. Maybe?

well you know, if they had used that Azog, they would have made a physical bolg aswell.

This is true [In reply to] Can't Post

Problem is they decided that CGI Azog was the way to go and they did it so late in the game. It kind of killed the double physical option.

I prefer the old Bolg [In reply to] Can't Post

Which is why I chose it for one of the top left pictures that rotate. But I do understand why his design had to be changed to match Azog (which I love the design of). I would've liked this new Bolg as much as the old one, had this design been the one from the beginning. So I have no complaints.

Much better than Azog, much more 'orcish'. Will have to see him in action to really to really be able to tell.

I did like elements of the old one [In reply to] Can't Post

Have you seen the Azog featurette on the EE dvd? I love some of the original concept art for Azog - which later went on to become Bolg. It looks like they've gone back to that.

Some of that Concept Art was awesome, and they were experimenting with the hair and beard design there. I guess when they decided to make Azog hairless they made Bolg hairless as well.

I do feel bad for Conan Stevens though, not sure how much of his performance is left. Although to be honest I have no idea of how much he actually filmed. Total mystery.

I too am desperate for a Bolg statue now! (I would have loved one with the old design as well...)

The old bolg [In reply to] Can't Post

Looked ten times more intimidating than this new one. But I guess they have to keep him toned down for all the pre-teens that they've marketed the films towards. Wouldn't want to scare them.

This one, at least in the pic, actually looks to me like it could be a guy in prosthetics. And kind of reminiscent of Lurtz.

One of my big problems with Azog was that he looked like something you'd come up with in one of those video game character editors, where you can stretch the jaw, or lengthen or shorten the nose. Doesn't look 'natural' to me, just misshapen, awkward and weird.

Statue [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't think I've gotten tot hat part yet on Azog. I saw it listed and am looking forward to seeing it. I do have the book from Weta with some of the designs.

I do too. I can't imagine thinking you're going to be in this awesome movie to only see it not happen.

I'd take one of both as well. Great minds my friend. :)

Not bad, but... [In reply to] Can't Post

If it was up to me I would've changed some things about it, for one I think he could've looked more ferocious and intimidating, the old design was better in that regard. I also think he could afford to be just a tad more deformed and grotesque looking. But all in all, not bad, and definitely a better design than his dad, who looks way too "clean" and naked for me.

And to be fair these are just two pictures, that show only part of him and from a certain angle. He could grow on me when I see more of him, and in motion, certainly.
