Bolg.. [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks much better than Azog, atleast at first glance. And the new shots of Smaug, the shot of the Orc army marching.. Consider me hyped!

Despite all the criticism, I really like Bolg's new design. Hopefully will look even better on screen.

Dude!!!! [In reply to] Can't Post

Smaug looks practical. Like, he seriously looks like an animatronic (in a very good way) He doesn't have that 'just really good CGI look) He looks ABSOLUTELY real. My Lord...

Yes... [In reply to] Can't Post

What we saw in the first trailer was almost a pre viz compared to this.

I didn't think CGI could do that, seriously. And my believe in CGI is usually quite strong.

Bolg... [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks real in that shot too! He has that cracked, earthy reality to him. Not the shiny, cg looking that Azog and so many other cg creations suffer from. Of course, this is one quick shot and the true litmus test will be seeing him in action through the course of the film but he looks damn good in that shot. Almost looks practical to me. I can just tell this movie has moved it up a notch from the last one (which I gave an 8)

All Smaug [In reply to] Can't Post

The dialogue is all Smaug.

SPOILERS

Necromancer only speaks in black speech. And he sounds much funkier. Cumberbuns said they recorded him saying his lines backwards and then played it forwards. Giving it an admittedly very creepy tone.

Is the voice of the Necromancer's similar to the voice we hear in the LotR movies?

Bolg = Playstation villain? [In reply to] Can't Post

Bolg looked awful in that shot. So fake and CGI! Hopefully it will look better on the big screen! The Avatar trailer looked really bad on a computer as well!

I think fairly close... [In reply to] Can't Post

I was a bit distracted by his physical appearance which is entirely different than AUJ (You can kind see his manifestation in the Gandalf scene with the staff in the spot).

Spoiler: He's essentially a black hole that moves like a storm. I really didn't know what to make of it the first time I saw it. I was hoping he'd remain a mystery and the Ringwraiths would take center stage but alas they do not feature at all. I'm excited to re-watch the film and re-analysis it a bit more.

I had similar thoughts... [In reply to] Can't Post

Bolg overall throughout the film I think is a failure. There are some beautiful close-ups however.

SMALL SPOILER

I think the CG isn't all it could be because they seem to have swapped Azog and Bolg's storylines at the last minute. (Azog doesn't feature at all in the barrel sequence despite the shot used in every one of the trailers and spots)

END SPOILER
