Smaug and his legs

So, now that there are people out there who have already seen the movie, is there anyone who can finally shed some light on whether Smaug has 2 or 4 legs? Or does anybody know a person who has seen it that they could ask it to? I know we're only a couple of days away from seeing it ourselves, but surely someone could lessen our pain from waiting by telling us this small detail?

As long as he looks as good as he does on that ANZ plane, that's fine by me.

The number of the legs on the dragon seem a lot more important than some other aspects that people on this site obsess over.

from what I've heard there is a pretty strict embargo on talking about anything they have seen in the movie. Just a few more days, keep breathing .

I will try my best to survive this period of waiting. But if someone decides that he can't hide this obviously very important detail anymore, feel free to PM me. I won't tell anyone

As to why some people think Thorin's hair is so important – need you ask?

.. has four! So long as Smaug has an even number of legs, it's OK with me. I know they will have worked their socks off devising a practical anatomy for him. And I'm looking forward to Thorin's hair as well.....

but I'd still bet 100€ he will have only two ! Anyway I don't care anymore : the view we had of him on the plane completely reassured me on his design as a whole, no matter the details

Just kidding. The character looks great so far-- traditional enough to be a great dragon, unique enough to have his own individual personality. Even though part of me wishes he does have 4 legs to be more in line with Tolkien's own drawings of the character, another part of me thinks it would look very cool to see him slithering about using his arms/wings to wrap around columns. We shall see...

There's more to Smaug than his long, shapely legs you know! He has a personality! He's not a piece of meat to be gawped at!

In AUJ:EE, they changed his entrance into Erebor scene so that he'd walk on his wings instead of claws. Interestingly, he still breaks down the door with a front claw, but every other scene showing him depicts two legs and two wings.

- seems to have stirred up a lot of debate and controversy. I foresee the day when they show a movie about a young Eldarion going on a quest to defeat an evil plot hatched by Sauron before his fall. Four-legged winged Dragons.

I've never heard anyone complaining about it – quite the reverse, in fact. (Unlike the Smaug four legs better than two issue.)
