Somewhat OT, somewhat ontopic... but thought it fit here best. I found a review for this film, and it is rather entertaining. Anyone who is familiar with Uwe Boll's work will know that he likes to take video games and make an movie based off of them- the word 'based' being used very, very liberally. It is great, though, to see that, throughout the review, critic James Berardinelli compares the film to a fantasy film that did everything right in a fantasy film: The Lord of the Rings. Boll might be trying to imitate Peter Jackson but he doesn't do a good job. Wandering through Middle Earth was like going on a journey of discovery. Wandering through the world of In the Name of the King is like getting lost in a local patch of woods on a rainy day. He makes a few other comparisons to LOTR in the review. John Rhys-Davies is also in the film, and I like what he has to say about him. Finally, John Rhys-Davies, the only member of the real Lord of the Rings troupe to appear here, brings a level of class to the proceedings. No matter how excruciatingly dumb the dialogue is, Rhys-Davies is able to deliver it with the gravity of Shakespeare. It is so nice to see LOTR getting acclaim still, 4 years after the last movie was released. Ironically, this film has been named by a couple critics as the best film that Boll has made thus far. Heheh. By the way, has there been any parody or speculations made on what LOTR would have been like if Uwe Boll had filmed it? *g*
