i just read PJ offered the part of gandalf to tom baker, i never knew that! i think that would have been very interesting!

I can't imagine a better Gandalf than Ian McKellan, but if he had not been available, Tom Baker would have been awesome. Smile

Tom Baker would have been good, but McKellen was the right choice [In reply to] Can't Post

Failing those two John Hurt would have done a fine job, as would Michael Hordern had he been alive (his reading of the wizard for the BBC radio series was spot on).
