A new poster of Thorin Oakenshield coming to a bus shelter near you! Can't Post

Check out this new poster of Thorin Oakenshield that is, apparently, coming to a bus shelter near you!

It reminds me of some of the posters that debuted with The Two Towers (probably the bluish one of Aragorn with Eowyn and Arwen), but I think the art department might have gone a touch far on the blue colour-cast of the setting with this one. What do you think? Leave a comment below!

Oh, and just click the image for an "embiggened" version.

Gorgeous and that's more like it! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's that image that was used on the cover of Empire magazine. I love the luminous fungi at the bottom of the picture.

Though I still worry about him cutting his left hand on that sharp blade! I suppose he could just be supporting the blade…

Thanks very much for posting this.

P.S. The Bard poster is great, too – I especially like the look of Lake-town in the background.

Evil [In reply to] Can't Post

Really a dark and twisted image of Thorin. Wow... He looks evil and obsessed with something. Very nice.

But i really wanna see that, i wanna see that scene where we see Sauron walking the steps INSIDE of Bara-Dûr and taking his seat upon his dark throne and summoning the eye, looking into the camera and then BAM! THE END.

-My thoughts on the best ending scene/post credit scene on TABA.

for what it's worth... [In reply to] Can't Post

This image is in cmyk mode.

Computer screens need rgb color mode to display colors correctly and when you change the image to rgb, the color tones down to how they are intended to look once printed.

Here's a comparison:

I've resaved it as rgb and made it available here:
http://www.amagpiesnest.com/...elter-HDOS-1-rgb.jpg

It's big. :-)

I've already created a wallpaper for my monitor (1920 x 1080).

I love the monochrome effect...it really brings out the detail on Thorin's costume and Orcrist looks stunning, too!

Spider venom [In reply to] Can't Post

Might be imagining - or projecting - but thought Thorin's eyes looked a wee glassy
in trailer 1 - along w. this poster is pretty much what I'd expect from someone
who'd been nipped and poisoned by a big spider, un-majestically bundled into
sticky floss and hung up like a slab of ham. Yep, imagine Thorin has a massive
headache and is really po'd at this point, and evidently the day continues to
go downhill....

News Bulletin: [In reply to] Can't Post

DOWNTOWN—Law enforcement officials hosted a press conference earlier today, responding to complaints about the inundation of dazed women at the bus shelter at Main and Market streets. The Chief of Police stated that there was no threat to public safety.

“These women are not, in fact, vagrants, but rather women who had gathered at the bus shelter to gaze at the poster of Thorin Oakenshield. They were simply mesmerized and lost track of time, space, and all other considerations. An attempt was made to remove the poster to reduce the problem, but the women became aggressive, and so the decision was made to leave the poster intact, on the assumption that they will eventually become bored and move on.”

When questioned about his experience and expertise in the area of Thorin Oakenshield fans, who were described as “rabid” and “persistent,” the Chief responded that if the problem has not abated in a month, a new strategy would be implemented, but he refused to comment on what that strategy might be.

An unnamed source at the police headquarters revealed that the strategy could involve distributing free tickets to a local theater for a viewing of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug in order to disperse the women.

Update [In reply to] Can't Post

UNION STATION MALL, U.S. - the right to assemble in public received strong support
from local city merchants today, who vigorously supported the recent international
phenomenon of dazed, glassy-eyed women congregating in large groups around certain
station signage recently placed at bus stations worldwide, apparently to view
the image with a kind of awed reverence.

A Starbucks manager summarily dismissed some irritated complaints from male
patrons, who complained about having to detour around the solidly immobile groups.
"Look, except for some heavy sighs and occasional bouts of heavy fanning - and
the one gal who fainted - they're not bothering anyone" he commented. "And every
now and then one of them breaks off and makes a coffee run - they seem to work
in shifts - and hits a few sales, so the whole mall is benefiting." Plus, he confided,
"Suspect any complaints are coz, yah know, when a lot of guys see the picture
they kind of feel shamefully inadequate by comparison, and that stings."

An unnamed source at Warner Brothers, the movie studio responsible for the
advertisement, has stated that while the company is ecstatic at the positive response
to its PR campaign for the Hobbit 2, confirms that a consulting firm was hastily
contracted to examine the hazards of its next planned PR release, which is
a full-size image of three of the dwarves clad in leather and chain mail. "We received
some reports that were of concern to us from New Zealand after the release of
the "Thorin" stamp", the source commented. "Which of course is a small image.
We want to be reasonably confident that the display of a large, highly detailed
graphic will not result in a slew of lawsuits from episodes of hyperventilation
from susceptible persons. However, we feel reports of spontaneous combustion
are, in fact, a myth. Probably." (the author was unable to finish this report,
due to a sudden need to visit the bus station to quote "pick up a visiting
distant relation", unquote)
