Miss Gandalf and Dol Guldur. Otherwise it was good.
But i really wanna see that, i wanna see that scene where we see Sauron walking the steps INSIDE of Bara-Dûr and taking his seat upon his dark throne and summoning the eye, looking into the camera and then BAM! THE END. -My thoughts on the best ending scene/post credit scene on TABA.

The Raging Rapids we have already seen with Elves shooting at them... So WHY Not Throw IN a Waterfall? Which would Explain Bombur Flying High into some Orcs?

Thranduil sitting there with his staff and cloak and his legs crossed is like : 'Im sooo fabulous. " I could totally imagine him saying a famous line from Snow White: "Mirror Mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?"

And apparently focusing on Bilbo's story in this movie, so no Gandalf or DG... And Beorn seems to be the agreed upon "secret" when it comes to marketing. I am okay with Legolas and Tauriel. They ARE part of this story, the movie story. And especially Legolas gets people excited judging from especially Twitter posts. He is mentioned so many times... And Tauriel, I know people might hate this, but she seems like such a good addition to the story that I really couldn't get annoyed by more material.

I really like that picture of Thranduil. But Legolas looks ooooold! Much older than ol' Daddy ;) maybe he got some Mummy-genes (pun intended). No but really it is a great pic, but I miss Gandalf - the essence of these Movies!

That the main reason we are seeing so much Legolas and Tauriel is to keep many other parts of the film hidden. For example, we've seen Mirkwood stuff, the Elvenking's halls (including Legolas/Tauriel), some of Laketown and Bard, some of Smaug and what happens there, but there's a lot we haven't seen. We've seen very little of Dol Guldur in the Marketing, only a little of Beorn in both forms, so forth. They put emphasis on certain aspects of the story but that also allows them to take an image and market that image, so that it not only brings in a wider audience but also allows parts of the film to remain unknown to an extent.

Maybe they're saving their character development for the third film, but it seems like they ought to be focusing more on them in order to give the ending of the Battle of Five Armies that much more emotional impact. Then again, this is all just marketing. They're using the elf characters in all the images just to get people in the seats. Hopefully Fili & Kili get more screen time to develop into major characters in this one, so that they can use them to promote the third film and then break all the fangirls' hearts when all the hot dwarves are tragically snuffed out at the end. :)
"The Naugrim were ever, as they still remain, short and squat in stature; they were deep-breasted, strong in the arm, and stout in the leg, and their snouts were long. Indeed this strangeness they have that no Man nor Elf has ever seen a snoutless Dwarf - unless he were rhinoplasted in mockery, and would then be more like to die of shame than of many other hurts that to us would seem more deadly. For the Naugrim have snouts from the beginning of their lives, male and female alike..." (History of Middle Earth, volume 11, The War of the Truffles, p. 205)

You're not alone in casting Thranduil as the Wicked Stepmother! - take a look at this: http://aminawolf.deviantart.com/...Fairy-Tale-405979587 Snow White, of course, is ... [no, I won't spoil it] By sheer coincidence, I had been looking at this lady's artwork recently and had just posted a thread on Main board for a link to her other LOTR and Hobbit stuff . It's a hoot.

Oh gosh.. I will have a hard time in the cinema not to laugh out very loud when Thorin and Thranduil meet and Thranduil looks at him like: "Wow YOU are supposed to be fairer than ME you hairy liittle shrimp? I will show you who is the boss here *andswooshhethrowsbackhisredcloak"".. :D OMG Ahhh I will have to bite myself there.

Saying this very gently - and I do understand what you are saying - but it's like a box of chocolates. Until Thranduil appeared I NEVER thought of the elves as sexy. Pretty at times- but not sexy. Ticket sales are good for the Hobbit. And will say thanks to Books-A-Million (U.S.) got my Visual Companion today and a quick flip-through showed to me it seems pretty well balanced. As for this image, am thinking a few things *cough*, but at least Bilbo is front and center - again, looks like the "artist" has no idea about this film, I'm sure Thorin & co. just barrel down (bad pun) the rapids looking salon-fresh. Happily there a number of good images out now but thanks to the OP for the post.

Was just too odd - all the omissions - no Lee Pace or dwarf cast interviews, no Martin Freeman interviews, not much in the one vblog. If that the case, that's fine, in spite of the angst with many it caused. Hardly any point in being secretive about Legolas in any case.
