Seems the movie's ending is confirmed. [In reply to] Can't Post

Final movie track is "My Armor is Iron."

Not surprising, but the movie will almost certainly end with the death of Smaug.

The DOS Soundtrack is up on iTunes and the credits song "I See Fire" by Ed Sheeran is available to download.

"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!"

"Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

You think? [In reply to] Can't Post

I am actually convinced now it will end with the burning of the mountains-side and Bilbo finding out about Smaug's weakness.

Listening... [In reply to] Can't Post

... to it again, imagining the credits rolling and thinking about the probably very dark ending of the movie - this is the perfect song.

It fits, it is a good marketing tool, it is thoughtful. Perfect combination.

This could actually become a Oscar candidate.

I kind of like that among all the franchise wars I read so many "confirmations" that he would do the Catching Fire song... well, at least they were right about the fire. But the real fire. Dragon's Fire ;)

A few errors in the posted lyrics [In reply to] Can't Post

In Reply To

I can't identify all of the goofs, but some are fairly easy to find:

Oh, missed the eye of the mountain below [Oh, misty eye of the mountain below]
Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls
And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke
Keep watching over Durin's sons

If this is too ending far [If this should end in fire]
Then we should burn together
Watch the flames blind hard into the night [Watch the flames climb higher into the night]
Calling out for the rope, sent by and we will
Watch the flames burn over and over
The mountrains sigh [The mountain side]

And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Cooling out for the rope [Calling out for the rope]
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn over and over
The mountrains sigh [The mountain side]

Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountrains
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
All of we souls (this sounds wrong but I can't make it out)
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

Oh, should my people fall in
Surely I'll do the same
Come finding mountain holes
We got too close to the flame
Calling out for the rope
All fuzzing we will
Watch the flames burn and over
The mountrains sigh [The mountain side]

Desolation comes upon the sky

Now I see fire
Inside the mountrains [Inside the mountain]
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
All of we souls (still sounds wrong)
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze
And I hope that you remember me

And if the night is burning
I will cover my eyes
For if the dark returns then
My brothers will die
And as the sky's falling down
It crashed into this lonely town
And with that shadow on the ground
I hear my people screaming out

Now I see fire
Inside the mountrains [Inside the mountain]
I see fire
Burning the trees
And I see fire
All of we souls (just can't make it out)
And I see fire
Blood in the breeze

I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (fire)
And I see fire (burn on and on and mountains sigh) [burn on and on the mountain side]

So bad [In reply to] Can't Post

What happened to the LOTR feelings? The Middle Earth vibe?? This is a pop song.... Doesn't fit M-E World... Neil Finn nailed it but what is this???

I am so disappointed... Wow... This could be in any movie.. Like a Colin Farell drama movie.

But i really wanna see that, i wanna see that scene where we see Sauron walking the steps INSIDE of Bara-Dûr and taking his seat upon his dark throne and summoning the eye, looking into the camera and then BAM! THE END.

-My thoughts on the best ending scene/post credit scene on TABA.

I really think the original songs in this trilogy have taken their inspiration from the Rankin/Bass Hobbit [In reply to] Can't Post

Glenn Yarbrough's "Greatest Adventure" in particular.

Get Sam Beam of Iron & Wine to perform the walking song for TABA and I would be a ridiculously happy camper. Please listen to this song that is already within the themes of The Hobbit..

Would indeed by a great style for the last song. [In reply to] Can't Post

And blend well together with "Song of the Lonely Mountain" and "I See Fire".

Actually the song ypu posted could already by the credit song for TABA with only a few minor lyrics adjustments :D

YES! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've seriously been posting this song for over 2 years in hopes that some one would see what I saw in it.

Sam Beam is just amazing. I actually feel so strongly that his voice/music would fit these films, I'm inclined to start a petition!

I thought it was an obvious no-brainer that this would be perfect.

I am listening to it right now for the thrid time and try to picture "The Road goes ever..." over it. Amazing.

I will might go order the album, never heard of them before but totally my music. Thanks for this!

Yeah... No real ME feeling [In reply to] Can't Post

This doesn't work for me, maybe for others and that's just fine, but this doesn't feel right.

All the LOTR ending songs fit perfectly in the world, even the Lennox one (it took me some time, but I love it), but that one had the 'vibe' to begin with.

This one is just a typical Ed Sheeran-popsong. Nothing wrong with that, I actually like his voice, but this is a shame.

It feels too 'marketingy'... :/

Wow, really like the song [In reply to] Can't Post

It's kind of haunting in its own way. I like that they are going with male singers for the trilogy, and keeping it in line with Song of the Lonely Mountain, but no end credits song will ever top it IMO, but this comes close. Really do like it though, after I thought I wouldn't after the negativity people were giving Ed Sheeran before the song was released. But I did, after all, enjoy it and now can't wait to play the whole soundtrack next to me while I play Lord of the Rings Online.

I like it [In reply to] Can't Post

I am liking the folk aspect thus far as the style of song for The Hobbit movies but then I am a huge fan of folk music. Roots/folk is my favorite and this has sort of that kind of tenor to it.

The lyrics I think are outstanding. I really like them and the whole emphasis on Durin's folk is perfect. I am going to listen throughout the day today. I can totally see this on a credit roll.

Ouch [In reply to] Can't Post

Wow what a non-Middle Earth sound. It's modern radio pop sound. It will be very shocking and distracting to be viewing the movie's final scene, with Shore's score, and then be ripped out of the mood and world with this sound suddenly blasting through the theater. It is going to be a very jarring moment; to be yanked right out of Middle Earth by this song.

After Silverlode's comment ... [In reply to] Can't Post

I decided to listen to it. The longer I left it, the longer my opinion would be influenced by other opinions I read on here. The only way I'm going to make an opinion is if I listen to it. Plus, I caved. I have no self-control. Wink

I don't like it. I don't love it (like the LOTR songs), and I don't hate it (as I do with everything else to do with Ed Sheeran [sorry again, Ed.]) It's just a bit ... bleugh. It doesn't get going until the fourth minute, and by that time, there's only 40 seconds left of it! It's nothing special at all, really. His voice grates on me, I find it difficult to make out what he's saying, despite us both being English.

But I'll live with it.

I much prefer Catching Fire's closing song by Christina Aguilera. It's more catchy.
