Store Exclusives for AUJ Extended Edition Can't Post

Just a heads-up for those like me who must know about all versions of a movie available to choose from. The following are all I could find for store exclusives. If anyone knows of other offers, please share!

Best Buy is advertising an exclusive steelbook version of the Extended Edition on 3D Blu-Ray in their weekly deals section.

Walmart also has these "Walmart exclusive" listings, but with no details on what exactly makes them exclusive:

And of course there is the Amazon Exclusive gift set with the Bilbo and Gollum statue.

Again, if you have found any other exclusive versions or promotions, please post here!

I made a real tactical error… [In reply to] Can't Post

And put it on my Christmas wish list. Now I have to wait for it. Frown

I don't have any Steelbooks in my blu-ray collection, and I really don't need this one. Please post what the Walmart special is, if you can. Hopefully Santa won't have purchased this before I can be more explicit about which 3D EE that I want. Thanks for the heads up.

When will the EE be released in the US? [In reply to] Can't Post

In Sweden it's the 11th, so if it's earlier in the US I'll want to stay away from these boards to avoid spoilery discussions.

I hope it's only packaging stuff, none of that "exclusive featurette" nonsense like they did with the Star Trek movie [In reply to] Can't Post

There had better be only one version of the discs themselves. None of this picking and sorting specific features for each different retailer. That's such a stupid and frustrating marketing tactic, and I'd like to hope that Peter Jackson and WB are above it.

"The Naugrim were ever, as they still remain, short and squat in stature; they were deep-breasted, strong in the arm, and stout in the leg, and their snouts were long. Indeed this strangeness they have that no Man nor Elf has ever seen a snoutless Dwarf - unless he were rhinoplasted in mockery, and would then be more like to die of shame than of many other hurts that to us would seem more deadly. For the Naugrim have snouts from the beginning of their lives, male and female alike..." (History of Middle Earth, volume 11, The War of the Truffles, p. 205)
