Ultimate Edition ?

I've saw many comments by others who state that Peter Jackson stated that he intended to make an ultimate edition of LOTR. This would include all the deleted scenes that never even made it onto the extended editions... Do you think this will ever happen ? Here's some deleted scenes :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_k8RTKGlg0

...it will probably be well after the Hobbit Trilogy is over. PJ seems like the kind of guy who would do something like that, so I'd say it's possible someday!
My favorite speech from the entire LOTR series: Sam:“It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was after so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances at turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something.” Frodo: “What are we holding on to, Sam?” Sam: “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for!”

There certainly is alot more deleted scenes and 'behind the scenes' footage lying around...what will be done with it is the problem:

On the commentaries on the EE Both Jackson and co refer to outakes, blooper reels, and yes additional deleted scenes that could make it into a future 'ultimate edition', I have seen further comments corroborating this around the net, but nothing too recent. Digging around in my old stack of EMPIRE magazines I came across this nugget (EMPIRE Issue 248 February 2010, page 142). Part of an Article/Interview with Jackson about the then non existent Blu Ray Release it's obviously out of date and may not be relevant any longer-but VERY interesting none the less: 'And sparking hope in the hearts of those for whom the myriad hours of extras available just aren't enough, Jackson mentions the possibility of even more exhaustive material. "I have a couple of ideas for a new documentary. We shot and uploaded seven million feet of film to the Avid in New Zeland, and when we finished Rings we said to New Line. 'Why don't leave that here, under lock and key with a dust cloth thrown over it, so we can go back in later?' They said, "No send it all back" and wiped the drives, even though we begged them not to. So to do another documentary, they're going to have to re-digitize all that 35-mil footage, which is in LA now, frame by frame. Which they seem very reluctant to do". So there you have it: all that candid behind-the-scenes material and filmed-but- abandoned footage (perhaps including Arwen's appearance at Helm's Deep and Aragorn's early years). hidden somewhere in Burbank waiting to be discovered like the One Ring itself. But don't hold your breath. "That'll probably turn up on what they call 'the big box set'-the Lord Of The Rings films and the two hobbit films," says Jackson."So it's still four or five years away." There was also this interesting bit on Costa Botes website (he directed the 3 feature length behind the scenes documentaries for each of the LOTR films, found on the Limited Edition DVD's and EE Blu Ray): http://costabotes.com/making-of-lord-of-the-rings/ As for deleted scenes I believe our very own grammaboodawg has (amongst her other tireless and very cool efforts) assembled a photo album of screenshots from known unreleased deleted scenes-last time I checked it numbered several hundred. So yes, there is apparently more than enough material to add to an Ultimate Edition or Big Box set, but the problem is whether New Line and Warner Bros can be bothered to make the effort to, or risk surrendering a possibly lucrative source of constant re releases. (That is of course assuming the footage still exists...). Personally I would be interested in seeing screen tests, and the footage of Stuart Townsend as Aragorn, just out of curiosity. I don't have much to say.

Eowyn fighting Uruk-hai in the caves behind Helm's Deep. Faramir seeing Frodo as a Gollum-like creature. Flashback of Aragorn and Arwen meeting. Merry telling Pipping that "We will meet in the Shire again." Gandalf climbing the stairs to the top of the mountain (that always bothered me a little) Perhaps showing Galadriel giving Gandalf his new staff and cloak afterwards (especially with their newly established relationship in The Hobbit) Sam using the ring to get past the watchers. The rumored Library scene with Elrond and Arwen The Epilogue (however they manage to work it in) I know we'll never see Tom Bombadil or the Scouring of the Shire (for the best, I think). And I DON'T EVER WANT TO SEE Arwen at Helm's Deep or Aragorn fighting Sauron at the Black Gate. Those were both terrible ideas which I'm glad got cut.
The Grey Pilgrim, they once called me. Three hundred lives of men I walked this earth, and now I have no time...

I would love to watch it if it ever comes out.
Just a steward's son Strong in some ways weak in one Redeemed in the end. Beware the shiny They are there to steal your heart. You must just say no.
On another note, wonder what obscure holiday it is today? No? Of course you do! That is why I have created This calender to tell you! Enjoy. I take suggestions if I missed your favorite holiday.

Yeah, Arwen at Helm's deep would have been awful.

I'd love to see more epilogue! Wedding of Faramir and Eowyn, Gimli as the Lord of the Glittering Caves, and so on. I wouldn't mind Eowyn's fight scene in the caves. The whole Battle of Helm's Deep differs from the book as it is, so some Eowynian Uruk-slaying wouldn't bother me one bit. Arwen would, on the other hand… I could also do without Frodo turning into Gollum, and the decision of replacing Sauron with a troll at the battle at the Black Gate was one of the best.

If warners brothers decide to release it then it will surely bring in soo much money from the massive following that LOTR has. And also some of the deleted scenes will not fit into the film seen as some of them are way off topic, (primarily aragorn fighting sauron) so they might decide to have a separate movie reel where all the deleted scenes are shown in a row.
