We had a Bilbo at our door tonight Can't Post

He looked very dapper in nice jacket and waistcoat with the One Ring hanging around his neck. Silly me thought he was Frodo!

Anyone else get any Tolkien costumed trick or treaters tonight?

No, but I helped costume one last week! [In reply to] Can't Post

And when he decided that a hobbit wasn't good enough, he wanted to be The hobbit, Bilbo, he insisted on borrowing Sting and a Ring for his pocket, too. I put the Ring on a piece of cotton yarn even though it was a only a plastic gamepiece. The metal one I found is still safely tucked away. ;) And the original battery is still kicking in Sting after all these years!

I also armed his older brother who chose a character from another fictional world. They know who has all the cool toys and props. =)

Alas! [In reply to] Can't Post

The rain and wind gusting was bad last night in my town that it kind of put a quick end to Halloween. We had 3 or 4 courageous kids knocking for candies but no it wasn't a good day to roam the streets for treats!

And today the sun is up!...

I had wind and rain where I live too [In reply to] Can't Post

I dressed up in costume (as an Elf) and gave out candy, but I only got 2 trick-or-treaters! I had to give the rest of the candy to the music building office at my school.

I live 4 miles into farm country [In reply to] Can't Post

So I'm sad that I don't get trick-or-treaters and my g'kiddies have all outgrown the fun costuming. I still smile when I think of my eldest g'son (now 18) when he was 6 asked to be an Orc, so I got to make his costume. What was so cool is that this was the 2001 Halloween BEFORE LotR was released! *fluffs hair*

I love it that you had Bilbo come for a visit :D Very Very Cool!

I wanted to chase him down and take a picture of him [In reply to] Can't Post

except my camera wasn't at home... and chasing down kids to take pictures of them is a bit frowned upon, these days. :-)

I figure he was about six which made him all the cuter. He might have been close to actual Hobbit size. And that costume was top notch - con quality. Not a store bought one at all.

I heard (talking to a parent I did know who was tagging behind the bunch) that he was from across the street and I haven't spoken to them. (our neighborhood cycles through young families. They move here to affordable small houses when they're newly married and move out when their kids get a little older to larger houses). But I hope to catch them one day.

I do know the woman at the end of the block is a HUGE Tolkien fan. :-)
