for making snowballs* Sounds like you've got a deep freeze problem. Use that snow sparingly - we're getting daytime temps upwards of 15 C here, so what we have left is melting! *tries to figure out how to pronounce the "pt" in Pteppic, gives up after covering screen with spit*

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." Sorry indeed to make you feel like that. I remember feeling that in my early posting days too, and it's awful. I'm sorry I didn't see your post earlier to reassure you as well. Heartfeltest apologies, and I'm sorry if anyone else is feeling like this either. It's not you!

a.s. is exactly right. I was just trying to not get riled up so that I wouldn't say something grumpy and provocative. But it looks like I accidentally did say something grumpy and provocative anyway. Silly old me. It's not newbies, and it's not Orcbane (who as I said, often says fascinating, original and sometimes provocative but-in-a-good-way, creative and insightful posts that I love to read and think about). Reading what Silverlode said is exactly what I was thinking, but I expressed it badly and selfishly, so please everyone accept my apologies for that. I feel dreadful that I caused anyone to feel sad or unwelcome. I really didn't mean that at all. I was trying to avoid exactly doing that.

It's been a long while since we had a paranoia thread around here. We were overdue.
Silverlode "Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them. Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you." -On Fairy Stories

who the heck is it? No need to answer. This thread has been very educational. And fun. Which is mostly what we all enjoy. I'm sure it isn't me because I have not a shred of guilt. None whatsoever. Not even a smidgen. Well, not for years and years since I was a newbie and maybe made some netiquette errors mistakenly. But everyone has long forgiven me I think. I hope. Maybe it IS me. Is it me?

I rather think TORN is acting as my advice column lately. I should probably stop pontificating or I'll have to add another tip to the list: 5. Don't bore people with frequent long speeches, even if they're a captive audience. A little free advice goes a long way.

I could, according to rumours and Icelandic sagas, talk Old Norse and we'd understand eachother anyway! Although, we might have to talk about less interesting things like herring, sheep and why that idiot Ragnvaldur managed to take the wrong way around Orkney. Not sure I have a lot to say about herring.
