the ones where you get a brief glimpse of the larger story within the books. Pippin's misadventures in Minas Tirith is something I enjoy a lot in the book, particularly because I'm a fan of sequences when a character is thrust into an unknown place and makes discoveries for themselves. With regards to this scene, I think it's key to give Pippin a link to Minas Tirith, because up until this point he holds no real attachment to it and would rather be away. As we end up seeing, Faramir becomes the source of his courage/determination during the siege; I don't think it would have played out very well if this scene wasn't a little bit warm, and they nailed it. Smile
