Tolkien tale in 50 words or less Can't Post

Challenge: sum up any one of Tolkien’s stories in 50 words or less. My attempt for Beren and Luthien; “morgoth: and I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for you meddeling kids and your dumb dog.”

Ainulindale, the creation story [In reply to] Can't Post

A bunch of people sang, there were some fights due to artistic differences, and we got a flawed world as the result. Blame the world's woes on temperamental, egotistical, & feuding musicians.

Lord of the Rings and Silmarillian- [In reply to] Can't Post

First there were creation beings. They sang and fought and messed up the world. They made lots of little beings. Little beings sang fought and also messed up the world. The littlest of the little beings sang, did not fight, and helped make the world better while being simply adorable.

The Lord of the Rings [In reply to] Can't Post

Middle-earth was under the threat of destruction as Sauron fought to regain his ring and his power. A fellowship of heroes, likely and unlikely, stepped up in humility and honor to destroy evil and usher in a new age of the world in which much was gained, and much lost.

"That is one thing that Men call 'hope.' Amdir we call it, 'looking up.' But there is another which is founded deeper. Estel we call it, that is 'trust.' It is not defeated by the ways of the world, for it does not come from experience, but from our nature and First Being. If we are indeed the Eruhin, the Children of the One, then He will not suffer Himself to be deprived of His own, not by any enemy, not even by ourselves. This is the last foundation of estel, which we keep even when we contemplate the End. Of all His designs the issue must be for His children's joy."

You have the gist of it, but I have seen it a bit more formally worded: "The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings: An Essay on the Evils of Jewelry in Very Many Parts by J. R. R. Tolkien". Laugh

"I had forgotten that. It is hard to be sure of anything among so many marvels. The world is all grown strange. Elf and Dwarf in company walk in our daily fields; and folk speak with the Lady of the Wood and yet live; and the Sword comes back to war that was broken in the long ages ere the fathers of our fathers rode into the Mark! How shall a man judge what to do in such times?"

"As he ever has judged. Good and ill have not changed since yesteryear; nor are they one thing among Elves and Dwarves and another among Men. It is a man's part to discern them, as much in the Golden Wood as in his own house."

A bunch of short dudes got involved way too deep in things. A bunch of taller dudes helped get them out. A flaming eye dude got really mad and his rockin' black tower fell down. One tall dude got the girl and the rest got pretty much nothin' !
The End.

*geeky hand-clapping* How 'bout The Hobbit? [In reply to] Can't Post

Bilbo met Gandalf outside Bag End. "Wanna take a trip?" "NO WAY!" Well, Gandalf planned a party where 13 Dwarves and Gandalf manipulated Bilbo into going. The Hobbit fixed every problem and got everyone to the Mountain where he faced a dragon! Finally, his wish to be home came true.

Wow! That was fun :D Thanks for the great Challenge, Kalimac!
