My suggestion would be to draw what you envision. What do you see in your mind when you picture Luthien or Feanor? Draw that out, and if you're unsatified, draw it again, and re-draw, until you feel like you've gotten to where you want to be. I've been drawing Thranduil of late, and have had to draw and re-draw him, because he isn't exactly the way I want him to be. So this could take time and some work, but the important part is to have fun, and try not to be self-concious. (I know I can be.)
Just draw the elves from the Silmarillion, and don't worry about anything or anyone else. Everyone draws at their own pace, and in their own style.
