My reaction at the end of AUJ was 'Is that it?' [In reply to] Can't Post

So I think making DOS shorter would not be desirable as far as I'm concerned, in particular because there is the impression that more has to be fitted into that film than AUJ.

2 hours and 36 minutes is a perfectly good running time, imo. [In reply to] Can't Post

If this had been the last movie, I'd understand the disappointment to an extent, but there's still one more. Taken as a whole, the films will be almost eight hours. That's more than anyone could have hoped for.

No [In reply to] Can't Post

But the theatrical cut of each film was cut down from the original cut, some of the actors have claimed some of their best scenes were cut (Sam and The Watchers etc.) its a natural thing for PJ to cut and recut his films.

Maybe...because...you know..... He...felt it worked better this/that way? (BTW the Studio's "pressured" PJ into making that "Mid-film prologue" in TTT with Galadriel)

But... [In reply to] Can't Post

Is this set in stone? Do we know for sure that 156 is the official number of minutes for the movie yet? I'm sure the EE version will be well over 3 hours long, and for any of these movies, that is really the only version worth watching after it is released, but I was hoping for a good 3 hour run on the DoS theatrical version.

Can't agree about EE. Twas true with Fellowship, and maybe with An Unexpected, HOWEVER ROTK [In reply to] Can't Post

EE had things which all but ruined the movie for me and many others, and I am glad those things never made it into the theatrical.

Well, Aragorn killing The Mouth was an unlikely turn, but the WORST was The Witch King and Gandalf. [In reply to] Can't Post

There are so many reasons why that scene should never have played out that way. I find myself constantly explaining to people not familiar with the source why that is a deeply flawed scene based on massive and unlikely assumptions. I hated it so much I could not enjoy the Extended version at all, even though it had some good material.

Personally, I adore all the extended cuts. [In reply to] Can't Post

For a myriad of reasons, I've heard people complain about the extended cuts of TTT & RotK (the latter especially), but I've seldom gone back to the theatricals in the years since. Once you've seen all those wonderful character moments and the story fully fleshed out, it's hard to go back to the edited down cuts. RotK, especially, only felt truly finished once I had seen the EE.

Based on what I've seen and heard of the EE of AUJ so far, I can almost guarantee it will be the same in this case as well.

"All men dream; but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds awake to find that it was vanity; But the dreamers of day are dangerous men. That they may act their dreams with open eyes to make it possible."
- T.E. Lawrence

It does seem very early [In reply to] Can't Post

I mean, I can imagine PJ will still be editing this into November. And given that, the screening seems a little premature. When is it supposed to take place? Because I really can't see it being delivered to WB until a week before the premiere (as per usual)
