post too wide for some reason Can't Post

Hey all!

My CHOW post that I just posted for this week is ridiculously wide. I didn't post any pictures or anything, so I can't figure it out.

Could someone fix it for me before the posts start coming? It's really annoying....

Thanks!

Cirashala

Race is meaningless. We all bleed red-no matter who or what we are. What matters is the heart. For each race has those with good hearts and those with bad hearts. You have a good heart. You do not deserve to die.

That should do it. [In reply to] Can't Post

The thing that made it go wide was your line of asterisks that you used as a text divider. The boards don't recognize such symbols as being different from letters so when you have a whole line it treats it like a single word and won't break it up to "wrap" it on the page - so as long as your line of symbols is, that's how wide the page will go. Either keeping such lines short or inserting an occasional space to break it up into segments will keep it from happening again. Smile

code for horizontal rule [In reply to] Can't Post

I just tried a few things and, in basic editor, the code *leftsquarebracket*HR*rightsquarebracket* seems to work

replace *leftsquarebracket* with [ and replace *rightsquarebracket* with ]

points to line above ^

That inserts a line that should change dynamically with the width of a browser. Now, not being *that* skilled in these things, it's possible one of our forum software gurus may tell us that code is not a good fit for these forums. But I'm guessing it would work (and it seems to me I've used horizontal rule in the past with posts of mine but I'm not sure)

Someone with Advanced Editor would have to tell you if there are any buttons for a horizontal rule. If not, you could briefly switch to basic editor, insert the code, then switch back to advanced editor. (and using square brackets is a Markup code so you'd have to have Markup enabled. If the code works for you, you have it enabled. If not, just ask for more help)
